Removed Emblems

Have a Stirling Mist 2000 se. Just used a plastic putty knife and hair dryer to remove Maxima and Se off the trunk. Have huge blister on thumb from rolling off goo. But holy S looks so clean and nice. I put the black gloss Maxima emblem on black dash right above glove box. Looks pretty nice black on black. Not sure if looks to rice may not keep. I put the SE in front between the two slots on the bfront lip. That looks real nice. I also painted the wide mouth chrome exhaust tip satin black which looks nice with black tail lights.

I bought the SE 3.5 emblem that the Altima uses. I got it from the dealership.

Does this work the same on a 2002? I heard they started putting the emblems on with some kind of little posts on the back of them that go into holes in the trunk lid.

I truly believe that our emblems are stuck on with double sided tape. It would not make any sense to drill holes in any body surface when tape will suffice. The SE 3.5 emblem that I bought has tape on it.

Did any of the 5th generation Maximas come stock from the factory without the trunk emblems? Specifically I have a 2003 TE (Titanium Edition). It has 42k, and no trunk emblems.

I am wondering if it has been in an accident because the right trunk seam seems unusually wide AND the trunk emblems are not there.

Any insight, please let me know.

I de-badged the Maxima emblem from the trunk, but small areas around the letters were etched into the paint and after I had removed all the adhesive, you could still read "Maxima" there in the right light.

So I had to spend $22 and get a fresh emblem from the dealership and install it again.

Tried that, it was too far into the paint.
ProW, the adhesive comes with the emblem from the factory, and it is correctly spaced.
