Silencer loose....

i was taking out my elbow from the silencer to the air box. when i remove
that elbow, the silencer is loose. is this normal? i don't recall it being
loose before.

edit: i meant silencer, i think.

is it the box that is (was) connected to the intake box, which sits in front of the engine bay with a vacuum-style flat wide hole to suck air into and has some temp boost sensor or whatever it is called? If yes than mine is loose too.

Just rip out the white box... thats what i did to mine from underneath my car. Waste of space IMO.

Everything upstream the airbox is loose. White box, 90-degree elbow, the "ramscoop" inlet, etc...
I ripped it all out
(well, except for the white box, which I should rip out just for spaciousness since it's not in use)

Only possible side-effect I've seen is a small loss of low-end torque, especially when it's hot outside (since it becomes a warm-air intake afterwards)

Solution? Eventually I'll put a PR CAI in there

wouldn't you eliminate that by just routing a hose from the bottom of the airbox (where the elbow used to insert) to the fender? ala oscai?
