Gas Gauge
#1
Has anyone been having trouble with their gas gauge.
I filled up... topped off even, and the needle won't
go completely to the top. After going 8 miles, the reading
shows 1/8 tank used.
Anyone have any ideas? or am I gonna be making another trip to the dealer?
Thanks in advance
Problems I've had taken care of thusfar:
1) Engine light on at 20,000 miles - new catalytic converter under warranty.
2) Moaning clutch - New clutch under warranty
3) Interior rattling - rubber padding fix

No problem here.
Has anyone actually figured out how full the tank actually is at the various markers? i.e. how many liters/gallons are there are 1/4, 1/2, 3/4?
Also how many miles/KM do we have when the light comes on? I know the light sometimes comes on earlier than other times.
What is the most you have put into the tank and did you run out of gas? My record is 67.5 liters, on a 70 liter tank. I had less than a gallon left. The car actually bucked a couple of times on the highway but I 'wiggled' gas into the system.

well i have never taken it that close...i have had the light on for 10-20 miles before i have gotten gas but i've never felt any problems...the tank is supposed to be 18.5 gallons (no idea what the liter conversion is)...the most i've filled up even when topping off is about 17 gallons...usually i fill up about 16.5 or so when the light goes on...
bert, you can never tell how many miles until the light goes on...it depends on how you drive...if you drive like my dad (he gets 18mpg on our ford expedition on the street...their window sticker mpg is 13 street and 16 highway...i think) so anyways, if you drive like that you will be able to go 400-500 miles before you have to fill up and on a road trip you are supposed to be able to go about 500 miles (haven't taken a road trip yet on mine)...i average right around 20mpg and never drive on the highway for over 20 or 30 miles at a time...most of my driving is on the street...usually i will get about 350 miles out of 17 gallons of gas...when i first got the car (after break in, of course) i used to get about 280 miles per tank...but back then i used to drive so bad...i used to floor it all the time and race all the time...now i rarely street race if ever...i have started to mature about things like that (unless there is a car that is really worth it and i or someone i'm with knows the area) but i have been trying to go only 5-10mph over (in arizona they ticket at 11 or more mph over the limit)...i think that getting my body kit was a good thing for me...i drive much safer and slower with it...i have tons of people looking at my car and now that i know my car is a cop target, i drive slower (which is a good thing)...i still corner fast, but as long as there isn't any tire squeal you can't really get a ticket for that (unless you are going over the speed limit, of course)...so i would reccomend to get a body kit or something that makes your car very noticable for at least a month of so and then you learn how to drive much slower and more carefully...now, i'm worried about scraping and everything...o well, it worked for me, i don't speed or street race nearly as much as i used to

The light question was asking how much gas is left when the light comes on? I get about 70 before I start worrying. I know I shouldn't let it get that low but I am too lazy.
I actually don't find too much difference as long as I keep the commutes below 4000-4500 RPM in 5th. I can tool for an hour at 150-160 and not see too diff in the gas usage.
I certainly see the diff when I have fun.... but hey! I am having fun!
I will certainlu have fun this summer... I have 9/32s of RE92 to go through!
