Got Serpintine???

Well my car threw the serpintine belt on my way to work this morning. I was only around the block from home so I just stopped to pick up the belt and dropped my car off and took another car to work. Any suggestions on what belt to run? I like to keep things on the OEM side but since the oem didn't last too long I think I want to try something else. I going to change the p.s. belt as well. Thanks in advance.

Make sure that you don't have a bad pulley or something that caused your belt to fail. Gates, Dayco and Goodyear made good belts and hoses. I have had good luck with Nissan OEM replacement belts in the past. I have not bought a serpentine belt for my 02 Max yet.

That's a pretty early failure.

I was thinking that this was pretty early failure since my car was built in 7/02 which makes it less than 2yrs old. The belt may just be defective. The belt has a lot of cracks in it and is frayed on one side which caught on something and yanked it off. The belt is still complete but trashed. Thanks for the advice. I'll have the pulley's & tensionor checked out.

Good call bro. My tensioner was actually missing from my car. I guess it froze up and ejected it self taking the belt too. Is this something that would be covered under the powertrain warr. I've already paid to have it replaced at a local shop. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I don't know if Nissan would cover the belt tensioner under the powertrain warranty. The best way to find out is to read your warranty booklet and/or call your local dealer. I would hope that they'd cover it.

They sure as heck better cover the tensioner. It is definitely part of the power train...(seeing as the car does not run without it). I would go with a Goodyear Gatorback belt. I have always had great luck with them.
