i think my pump is squeaking really bad, wondering what will happen when it decides to go wondering will it...

A. explode

B. stop working but keep spinning

C. stop spinning until mt serpintine belt breaks

D. bust a hose and loose all my fluid

just wondering whatl happen because i want to drive on it but dont wanna get stranded.

Both B & C are possible. It really boils down to why it's squeaking..

I had to change the pump on the car I recently picked up and it appeared to be spinning just fine, but would only work about 30% of the time. It was like it was slipping on the inside but would catch occasionally. Sounded horrible when it did catch.

If it seizes, there's a good chance the belt will snap.. Even if just for the fact that it'd have to be dragged around the pulley, if the belt continued to spin.

I picked one up at the yard for $6..

 

Crap, you have the motor out enough in your car...just change the pump

 

i tell you what the next time i take the motor out youll know because ive planned a lil 3.4 turbo 5 project just need to start collecting.

i dont see how so many people have problems with the power steering on these things 188,000 miles and mines never had a problem except for leaky hoses.

 

yeah it was leaking but its still squeaking so i think its the watter pump, ill change it tomorrow night, does anyone need pics of anything?
