Intake Installation
Intake Installation
I have a Frankencar intake, but don't have the instructions. Since the search function is disabled, I was hoping either someone could point me to a link with instructions (preferably with pictures). I don't know what half the stuff under the hood is called, so pictures would help a lot. Thanks for your help.
These are the instructions directly from the Frankencar webpage.
2000-2001 Maxima and I30's
1. Remove the bolts holding the stock air box in and the support bracket on the strut tower.
2. Unclip the lines in the holders on the airbox
3. Loosen the clamp on the MAF.
4. Remove the stock airbox with MAF attached
5. Loosen the 10mm bolts holding the MAF to the airbox
6. Place the MAF and o-ring off to the side carefully
7. Disconnect the breather line from the resonator box
8. Disconnect the two smaller vacuum/breather lines
9. Loosen the clamp on the Throttle body and pull the rest off.
10. Disconnect the Negative Battery Cable
11. See the wire loom that holds the postive battery cable, CAREFULLY with a sharp knife cut the tape open and split it open so you can pull out slack for the Air Temperature Sensor. There is also a clip that you can pop open to get more slack, it's attached the the body of the car.
12. Remove the Air Temp Sensor from the Scoop AND THE Rubber Fitting.
13. Put the silicone reducer on the throttle body( it helps if you lube the edge with some chapstick or dab of vaseline first), then clamp it down with the SMALLER of the 4 T-Bolt Hose Clamps
14. Put the silicone coupler on the MAF, also lube that too, then clamp it down
15. Using the STOCK MAF bolts, attach the adapter to the MAF and tighten in a criss cross pattern, make sure the o-ring is in there.
16. Attach and clamp the filter to the adapter.
17. Insert the tube into the rubber coupler on the Throttle body side and clamp it down
18. Attach the MAF and filter assembly to the tube and clamp it down.
19. Attach the three breather lines to the tube that sticks out.
20. Insert the rubber fitting into the 3/4 inch hole and then stick the ATS in it.
21. Make sure all connections are good and tight.
22. Attach the bracket to one corner of the MAF adapter plate and then the other end to the hole on the strut tower where the bracket for the stock airbox was using one of the shorter stock bolts.
23. Start car, feel that power

Edit:
Crazy what a little random clicking will do. I just clicked on any link on the frankencar website pertaining to the intake and it took to an area with pics of the install. Funny, I couldn't get there before. Just in case anyone wants pics in the future, the link is ... http://www.frankencar.com/fcstage2install.pdf
Thanks for your help.
