Y Pipe vs. headers for 3.0

Is there enough of a power difference b/w a y pipe compared to the cattman headers to compensate for the price difference b/w the two?

I myself am waiting for this answer. I talked to a buddy who drag races and said that generally, headers will give out more power than an aftermarket y pipe, but not by much. I am still waiting to see the numbers, since I know of a member who has had a y pipe and is getting a set of headers installed.

I myself, am leaning towards headers when I am ready, but I DO want to see the outcome of the comparison.

i think $ for $ the y pipe isa much better deal... i mean look at the 5.5 headers! $600 i think... sorry thats not coming from my pocket book.

I think of it like this: lets use cattman as a example.

cattman y-pipe: $350
cattman headers: $750

so if i'm paying twice the price for a header, i'm hoping it will get me at least twice the horsepower. Lets say the y-pipe gives you 15 whp optimistically. Then a header should give me at least 30 whp, but this is highly unlikely on the 3.0 engine. Its more like 15-25 whp.

so according that those facts:
y-pipe gives you 1 hp to $23.33 ($350/15 whp)
cattman gives you 1 hp to $30 ($750/25 whp)

That is why headers are for those looking to get all the power they can....it's not a mod for those looking for "bang for the buck". For a person who wishes to stay NA, it does not take long to run out of basic mods (intake, Y-pipe, cat-back, UDP, flywheel, ECU).....then when it gets to the point where anything else is going to cost big $$$$, you will wish you would have just gotten the headers in the first place. In addition, all those other mods that let your engine breath would have benefited from the headers anyhow.
