5th Gen speaker replacements...

Ok I know theres other threads on this, but searches have not turned up a good answer and the audio forum is 1. way too tech-y for me and 2. hard as hell to tell which models people are talking about.

Anyhow, here's what I need to know:
I want to replace the front tweeters (in the pillars) and the sub from the stock Bose systems.

I am not a hardcore electronics/stereo expert and know nothing of ohms, crossovers, etc., so what I need is the SPECIFIC COMPONENTS I will need to replace these and make them sound good. I'm not looking to bass hard - listen mostly to rock/punk music, so want something with a tight sound - don't need to rattle any windows!

Tweeter
Sub that will fit where the factory Bose sub is
Amps (if the factory amp will not work for them)....
Any crossovers/converters/wiring I will need

and obviously, suggestions on brands/models - preferably something that is plug and play - I don't want to have to make any custom enclosures or custom mounts if I can help it - someday will have to return the car to stock!

thanks in advance for any help!

hey..

im not an audiophile myself..but im in the process of replacing my entire system

this is what i got

Blaupunkt San Jose - me and my friend bought one each and put it on our Accords. i sold it with the Accord, and now bought it off that same friend who upgraded for 105 bux; i liked its perforamnce]

Infinity Reference 6000cs - thsee ocmponents have pretty good power, and measured up well in its calss with other components in a crutchfield/sounddomain database..i found them on ebay for like 90 bux shipped, brand new, *retail* for 230, allegedly..included: component speakers, tweeters, crossovers

Infinity Kappas 52.5i - these speakers measured up well in its class also in teh databases, and i found em for 70 shipped, brand new..included: speakers, crossovers

all my audio purchases have always been off of ebay

im not putting in an amp or sub, cuz i really dont think it's needed, and if i do it, i'll wind up in an endless loop of upgrading the sound quality(dynamat, etc.)...plus, i can't stand it when the bass hits so hard, u can't listen to any of the song lyrics

the best thing about the current system im installing is that i believe it'll be better than the bose, and actually cheaper than i can sell the bose for...

keep me posted on what u do, cuz i need some help on my installation, and i believe we'll have the same questions

good luck in ur search

You might try the Morel MDT-12 tweeter. I have a write-up on my home page. For the money, the sound can't be beat, and personally, I think they sound much better than many of the metal dome tweeters out there . . .

I just bought a Kenwood KCD-X794 head unit from Cruthfield, haven't installed it yet. Nice thing about Cruthfield is they give you the dash kit, wiring harness and detailed instructions on how to remove the old stereo and install the new one. I'll let you know how it sounds when I'm done!

Seven year old thread, none of them care how it's gonna sound.
