Bose Headunit Replacement Options

Has anyone ever tried getting a 6th Gen Head Unit in our console?
I have seen the 6th gen HU in person, but figured I would ask It was a curious question of mine not even sure it would work for many reasons.

Also if I wanted to go aftermarket, Do they make headunits with the 6 dsc changer built in like our Bose is? I can only picture aftermarket 6 dsc head units have external disc holders.

Honestly I still think the OEM Bose HU is pretty nice, but the cut out on CDs is so bad, and has gotten bad over the years, sometimes the entire system cuts out!

Also I know all about the ribbon cable fix, i have the pdf, and am tempted to do it , but really held back because of the temporaryness

If it fits then it should work with the right wire harness. As for the sub part it would depend on the outputs and how the new wire harness ties into rest of the system.

aftermarket, it is a lot better then the Bose. I am replace mine with a full Boston Acoustic system with separate amp from an older car and the Bostons area lot warmer and have a lot more clarity. But anything will be better then the stock ones.

In any scenario dealing with a Maxima, hands down go aftermarket.

Pretty sure I'd rather have the base radio than the BLOSE. At least it probably works.

If you are every looking to get a good sub i would look at the Diamond Audio gear, i run a D3 10" with the recommend power and it is clan and tight. I have heard a lot of different subs and this is one of the best brands, besides the top end JL's.

If you go aftermarket just make sure to get the wiring harness you will need to plug into the factory amp, unless you plan on replacing everything then all you will need will be power and ground. I'm going with a Kenwood deck and a harness to use the factory amps.
