I might be imagining things but, sometimes I feel like I get better acceleration (from a rolling start) if I depress the accelerator 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down instead of flooring it. I have an automatic. Am I imagining things or do you guys sometimes feel the same way???

well, if you floor it straight out when rolling, it takes the tranny some time to 'think' and downshift. Steady pressure is slower and the tranny time does not really come into play in this case. But flooring it will be faster, regrdless of how it feels.
