Steps to take...
1.Pull out the speedo cluster
2.Pull the plastic cover off.
3.Place a small amount of elect tape over the light
4.ReInstall and your done
5.No more SES light, problem solved.

once them lights come on they're like dummy lights, you can get it reset but it will come back on... sometimes if you don't close your fuel cap tightly you can get some air in the tank and that can cause it to come on too.... pull the fuse
Reason the CEL comes on for a gas cap- all 97 and up cars had to be equipped with evaporative emissions systems. What this means is... the fuel vapors in the gas tank where escaping and going into the atmosphere and polluting our planet- according to the EPA. So what happens is the gas tank is pressurized and the gases are now burned by the engine. There are a series of valves and solenoids in the system, with lines runing from the fuel tank to the EVAP canister under the car, then from there to the intake manifold. When the gas cap is loose or U get an EVAP code, the engine will run the same way it used to, but the CELight is on so ya fix the EVAP system. Sometimes fixing it can be kinda tricky as it might be a leak at a stupid O-ring, Solenoid, or a broken line.... EVAP sucks. Long live OBD I.
