Window UP with OEM remote

Hey how's it going?

I have recently finished designing and building a module that adds the ability to put the windows up in Infiniti G35s/350Zs. In the G35 the factory remote has the ability to roll the windows down, but, in order to put the windows up you either have to put the key in the ignition and hit the window switch or put the key in the door lock cylinder and turn it to the lock position.

Does the window system on the Maxima work this way? I've been hearing that all newer Nissans operate in this fashion. If the power window system does operate this way then it should be very easy to retrofit my widow module into the Maximas as well as the G35/350Z. Is there any interest among Max owners? Anyone in the Dayton, Ohio area willing to work on this project with me (basically just need to check out the car and make sure everything is exactly the same and see if any program changes need to be made)

Basically, the system is very simple. If you press the 'lock' button twice within 1 second the windows go all the way up. If you either turn on the igniton or press the lock button WHILE the windows are going up the window will stop (safety). ALL factory features are maintained and operate normally. Also, the system can be set up to automatically lock the doors 6 seconds after the ignition is turned on (feature missing from the G35). Do the retained accessory power it is NOT possible to UNLOCK the doors when you shut the car off, so if you cannot open the door while it is locked this feature can be disabled.

Please post your thoughts on this matter,

Thanks,
Kevin Pierson

Kevin - Great work! I'd love to see this functionality for the Max. Yes, Maxima windows operate the same (hold unlock to roll the windows down) so I'm confident your retrofit would work. I don't know of any orgers very near to you, but hopefully maybe someone nearby will be willing to meet up with you!

The window roll up feature would be very cool. Personally I wouldn't be interested in modifying the locking mechanisms at all though.

Without sifting through that huge thread in the G35 forum, what's the cost on this mod?

I haven't been able to set a final price because I am still in the 'marketing' phase. My first production period will only be 30 units, and most of them I am using as a 'beta' test to make sure I have no unforseen problems. My overall goal is to keep the whole thing under $50 total (including shipping). If I find that these circuits are compatible with a wide range of Nissan vehicles and that there is a lot of interest in them then I can order parts in bulk and lower the price! So far though, I have only been able to find about 50 people interested, if that.

The window roll up mod will work on any Nissan that you can control the windows by inserting the key into the drivers cylinder. If you turn your key and hold it in the 'lock' position and the windows go up, and you have the OEM remote this should work. It's only been tested on the 350z and the g35 as of right now. Hopefully I will find a test Max in the Dayton, Ohio, Columbus, Ohio, or Philly area in the very near future. I have never looked at an I30 so I'm not sure how they are set up.

Thanks,
Kevin

Wonder if you could seperate the mods? I'm interested in the roll-up mod and lock while driving mod. If I had to pick one, it would be the lock while driving.

You really can't disable the mods. All the code is woven together. Is there a reason you wouldn't want the window feature? I do have plans in the future to work on a speed controlled locking system that will lock when the car reaches 8 mph and unlock the doors when the car is shut off. This won't be anytime soon as it will require much more hardware and much more coding then the stuff I am working on now!

SgtSchulze and I just got done performing this mod to his '02 Max! Everything went flawlessly and the system is 100% compatible. It has the ability to roll up the drivers side and the passengers side front windows. It, however, can not control either of the back two windows!

Installation is quick and easy assuming you can use a multimeter and take the door panel off. You can find instructions for removing the door panel on the internet. All necesarry wires are inside the door, and in the instruction sheet that comes with the module I describe how to meter each wire to make sure you find the correct wires. On the Max today it took us right around an hour to install it completely. There are only 5 wires that need to be hooked up, and 4 of them are in the power window module wire harness. Within the next two weeks we will be launching a website (hopefully) to expedite ordering. The demand for this module has skyrocketed since the original ideal so the 20 or so modules we initially offer will go quick!

Let me just add to Kevins post and just say that HE IS THE MAN!! It works perfect! He really has taken alot of time and effort to make this happen. He really knows his $hit and can talk circles around us layman. It took just about an hour and Kevin has never even taken a door panel off a 5th gen before today. You can disable the door lock module (I have to remember to ask Kevin how to do that again... was it turn on the ignition and press the lock button 3 times?? ) The windows roll up fast and everything else still works like factory. The final word..

THIS IS A MUST DO MOD!!!

Feel free to PM me if you want further info. I just have to say that I got a sneak peek at the Website and it's looks better than Cattman, Custommaxima, etc... Him and his bro make a dynamite team!!

GOOD LUCK KEVIN!!! Thanks again for making this happen!

The only thing I would fear with the windows up mod is that the windows won't stop when they hit something (or do they?). Should I sell the car down the road and some kid gets his head lanced off (J/K) I would get sued.

if im not mistaken our windows are equipped with a sensor that if it feels resistance ...the windows will stop and go back the other way ...

You could just pull the chip from inside the box and the thing will be disabled or you could just remove it. You don't have to cut any factory wires etc... You just tap in.

We thought about testing the whole window up "SAFETY" feature but we didnt want to risk screwing up MY window!!!

This magic little box (maybe 3inches sq) is really amazing. Kevin has spent countless hours figuring up the "code" to make this thing work flawlessly!! He's successfully installed these on three different Nissan's (G35, 350Z, and 2k2 Max). I trust him completely!!

Jump on this!!!

My G35 has that feature, but I don't want to risk screwing something up on my car by testing it. I believe it works fairly well though because there have been a couple of instances where the factory windows won't go all the way up because they 'think' they are hitting something (check the g35 or 350z forums for window prolems). I haven't personally experianced this problem, but I do know it happens!

As for that little kid, didn't his Mom ever tell him if it's not his don't stick his head in it?????? If I had a nickel for everytime I heard that growing up....
