Are black 5th gens rare?
Don't ask me why I'm wondering this, but I was just outside getting something out of my car and it struck me that I don't think I've EVER seen another black 5th-gen (outside of another one at the dealer when I bought mine) in this area. I see plenty of 5th-gens around here, but they are usually lighter colors, and the occasional dark gray/gunmetal (my buddy has one in that color).
Anyhow, just wondering if anyone has any stats on how many of each color of 5th-gens (esp. 2k) were made?

I really don't think black ones are that rare either...5th gen Maxes just aren't that common in general...
I think the most rare colors (and probably for good reason) are the tungsten blue and the green...

Well I just bought a 2k2 and wanted any color but black and had to go through a host of them to get what I wanted.
It also seems that all the black ones are 6 spds as well and of course I wanted the faster auto.

Here in Houston the colors i don't see a lot of are Majestic Blue and White. Every other color is a dime a dozen at least from what i've seen, the top color on the list would be the Sunlit Sand.

FASTER AUTO?! Please tell me you don't really think the auto is faster than the stick.

I have only seen about 2 or 3 of them since I bought my car 2 years ago.

Bah, up here in American-car-land I'm hard pressed to see a Max (of any gen more than a maybe twice a week) and 5.5 gens?!? Well, I'll just say it's a lonely 37-mi commute to my job amongst all those Tauruses, Impalas, Intrepids, and big 3 branded sport utes......Makes me stick out though! I would say the the darker of the silvers (sterling maybe?) and the beige are the most common, when I do see one though. I did see an 02+ a while back in a light metallic green...some middle-aged guy pimping the parking lights...lol, it was just kind of strange. BTW, what is the name of that color?
