Whats that ratteling
lately i've been hearing some ratteling from my engine
its coming from mid right side of the engine i assume...
i have an intake and ypipe
do i need a tranny flush.. or is it something mechanical
selenoids?
oh and i have 41k on my car...

scopium: As far as a tranny flush, if you got 41K and you havnt done it yet...I dont know what your waiting 4. I got mine done be4 I hit 30K with syn tranny fluid. Another thing, it shouldnt make noise to alert you it need to be flushed

does you car have rough idle, bad mileage, bad performance? that's generally a sign of a bad timing chain.
besides, wouldn't the timing chain be covered in the drivetrain warranty?

ok.. a little 'rattling' sort of noise is normal. if it is the chain, and you feel it is excessive (unsure what excessive is) it could be a tensioner that has a little slack in it allowing a bit of extra play. in any case, it is a huge job even getting to it, so i wouldn't dive in unless you are absolutely sure it's that and that it in fact requires repair. i know you can hear mine when parked next to a car with a belt. it has that trademark steely rattle to it. it gets worse with age, and when it's cold.
and only other thing that would make sense is valve tap. but at 41k, no codes, and if it all feels good and you don't leak fluids, i wouldn't be concerned.

IF thats the noise your hearing then dont worry about it, If its something that you know is wrong and should not be there. I'd say take it to a mechanic the you trust if its what I think it is, he'll just say dont worry about it and let you go. The reason I say take it to some1 you trust is so you dont get screwed, these days its hard to find a mechanic thats honest. You wouldnt belive the **** ive seen some places pull so becarful.
Im not saying its nothing that you shouldnt be concerned about. IF it is the chain & lifters then dont worry about it. I cant be 100% certain it is unless I listen to it myself. Im just giving you my best guess here. Thats why I said take it to some1 you trust just to be 100% sure about it.
Lifter noise is normal is most cars, my father has a Yukon Denali and that 6.0 motor has less then 20K miles and you could hear the lifters for the first 5-10min quite well. After that its only noticable if you try to listen for it.
Bottom line is, make sure it is what im talking about and not something else. Good luck.

HitMan....I have bad news for you...your Dad's Yukon is not suffering from lifter noises, it's suffering from piston slap because of the poor design of some of the Vortec motors....do a search on piston slap for the Vortec engines and be prepared to suffer...
In some extreme cases, GM has actually gone to the extreme of repurchasing the vehicles back from the orginal owners

Hell my father has been a tech for 30yrs, we know what should and should not be there, we just didnt fell like opening up a can of worms so to speak. Given my resources, im prepared to shove this trunk right up GM's back side.
Galo, Thank You very much for that info. I never knew about this issue. I will be giving taking this up with GM asap. I got about 5-6 diff links saved that I found regarding the subject. I think im going to pull the plugs out tomorrow and pop my scope in there to see if there is any obvious damage. Ohh man, is he gonna be ****ed when he finds out whats going on...

I doubt that you'll find anything when u borescope it.....maybe, just maybe a bit of scuffing on the lower cylinder bores but from what I have read, it's likely you wont.
Good luck shoving up GM's backside, specially when the dealer's tech said it was normal...whadda load of hooey.
