Painting a Body Kit

Has anyone here just painted the front and the back peices of the aero kit?

What do some shops charge around your area to paint and maybe install.

Do you recommend painting then installing or installing then painting?

Please advise, thanks!

from what Ive heard the best thing to do is "test fitment" of course and than take the pieces themselves to get painted, not on the car...install should be fairly easy, Im gonna do a test fitment today, I'll let you know how easy it is...

Installing is not an issue to me at all...just not sure if I should paint --> install or vise-versa.

i would paint them and then put them on, just in case something happens to the car in the future so you can still take the kit off and sell the car without a body kit

becuase if the shop paints with the kit on the car then they will overspray on the car itself so the paint will match better

Thats a fair price. Pre-fit the damn thing, make sure its perfect. Be4 the guy paints it tell them like 20x to sand the living hell out of it. The paint will easily chip if you dont. Been there...done that

The Stillen kit is only made in urethane. Better make sure he uses flex agent in the paint or it will spiderweb when trying to install the flimsy things.

Nice, I was hoping you didnt get the "other" one

Spin20: Thats not uncommon, for that price they use damn good paint and do one hell of a job. I would have paid that much to begin with if I knew it was going to come out perfect. Better then getting it done & redone later on

Acutally you would want them to install then paint cause then they fade up the side and bumpers to to acheive the best paint appearance. If you don't notice on other peoples cars the kit really doesn't match there car.

Unless you paint both the kit & car at the same time your not going to get a 100% perfect match. The paint on the car has been there since day 1 and the sun doesnt keep the color looking fresh forever. If you have two diff parts painted the same color, the kit painted a week ago & the car 2yrs ago. Its not going to look the same
Unless your willing to fork over $3-4K for an awesome paint job, thats on you man. Ill stick with my 99% match

Any bodyshop will tell you that they can fade it to match the paint better then painting and installing. Ask Deac his car and kit is flawless cause it was faded and you can't tell the difference.

I already have a place that is doing the WHOLE THING for $160 so why would I go all the way to NY to pay you $325?
