Speed Limiters

Do north american spec maximas have speed limiters? I was on the highway today doing about 143 mph and it had a lot left in it. I figure she will do easy 150 but decided not to iry today because the clown who owned the car before me put on some rear tires called dark horse. I don't know who the hell makes them so I usually take it easy on my commute and drive around 90 mph. I only drove at 140 for about 2 miles or so. Maybe tomorrow I will see if I can get 150 out of it. Maybe I take a pic. of the speedo while doing it.

maybe you should have someone else take the pic... things happen quick when you are going 205ft per second. Better to be safe than sorry.

-OR-

if you really wanted to be safe, you could stick to the posted speed limit (or somewhere relativly close to it).

Save us all the worry and don't take a picture of your car going that fast. We all know they are fast cars and can travel at speeds far excessive of the speed limit. We don't need you taking pictures to prove it.

Haha yeah maybe get a friend to take the pic that way if we completely lose it we will get rid of 2 idiots off this earth rather than one.

I don't have a restrictor on mine I know for sure cause I used to have a BMW that would do 155 mph. My friend had a maxima and he could hang with me the whole time. Oh by the way on these roads 140 is not that fast. I still get passed like I am stopped.

I have thought about it and it probably isn't the smartest thing to do taking a pic.

There is a speed limiter on all maximas, its 154 mph. The speed limiter is programmed into the ECU. It doesnt actually limit speed, but rather max RPM in top gear.

Also, BMW speedometers read notoriously high after 110mph. They have an error built into them by the factory to keep brave (read: untalented) drivers from losing control at a high speed.

There is a wire you can cut on your ECU to diable the speed limiter. This will throw a CEL so put a switch on the wire when you are not using it. I forget the wire so search for "ben's ECU mod" I think.
