New Maxima NA trap speed record

New Maxima NA trap speed record
This may become quite controversial and I am prepared to accept a certain amount of flack for the timeslips I am about to post. However if you have nothing more constructive to say than "Well you cheated...blah blah blah" I will ignore your post and make a request that your worthless clutter it be deleted.
It all started as a joke really, I wanted to beat up on blubyu2k2 a little after he got his new ECU and make him think he wasted his money. It was going to be quite funny to me untill someone tipped him off and so the joke was ruined. I started by removing the Air Conditioner and the condensor. As it turns out the whole assembly barely weighs about 25ish pounds. Far lighter than I expected. Then I removed the rear (Addco) sway bar for even more weight reduction.
The next day after reading the Intake manifold threads and getting pi$$ed off for not following through with my two year old idea I removed my Intake manifold and made some 'speacial' adjustments . Then I spoke with Blu about going out to race but somewhere in the conversation about vehicle weights I discovered my joke was over. After that I figured I may as well remove everything else of value just to see how quick I can make the car feel. In the end I had removed the AC, sway bar, floor mats, passenger seat, rear seat, jack, spare, trunk carpet and cardboard. I even used a 4 rib belt to run the alternator. The total veichle weight with 3/4 gas and no driver was 3041 pounds (we have scales at work for each wheel).
The first test drive I quickly noticed that the car felt insanely fast and when blu drove it he almost ran it into a ditch from spinning second gear. It was then he started badgering me about taking the thing to the track today. At first I wouldn't listen because I really didn't want to go to the rice fest but eventually I decided to go because it was a perfect oppourtunity to set a new personal NA record.
And now my runs of the day, all NA with 245/45-17 Toyo T1-S tires and stock SE Maxima wheels.
12:52pm
R/T.......... .944
60' ....... 2.463
330'....... 6.030
1/8........ 9.053
MPH....... 82.38
1000...... 11.641
1/4........ 13.828
MPH....... 103.75
I was thrilled at that first run because I had jsut shattered all my previous NA runs and I finally broke into the 13's NA
Then..
1:06pm
R/T.......... .946
60' ....... 2.292
330'....... 6.008
1/8........ 9.016
MPH....... 82.35
1000...... 11.600
1/4........ 13.781
MPH....... 105.27
This had both of us scratching our heads. But the only thing I could do was try again to see if I could back it up..
And by then blu had a big "WTF" attitude and begged me to let him run my car. So I let him go and after missing 3rd gear twice on his run...
1:18pm
R/T.......... .668
60' ....... 2.277
330'....... 6.035
1/8........ 9.298
MPH....... 76.56
1000...... 12.010
1/4........ 14.272
MPH....... 100.23
After that I ran my car again and it felt like the most perfect 1/4 mile pass I have ever made at the track.
1:39
R/T.......... .741
60' ....... 2.254
330'....... 5.949
1/8........ 8.944
MPH....... 82.74
1000...... 11.510
1/4........ 13.673
MPH....... 106.41
This was now the first time I have ever run below 9 seconds in the 1/8 NA.
Blu tried another run..... he missed 3rd again..
2:05pm
R/T.......... .552
60' ....... 2.341
330'....... 6.104
1/8........ 9.190
MPH....... 81.08
1000...... 11.799
1/4........ 14.010
MPH....... 102.23
A few hours later...
5:10pm
R/T.......... .765
60' ....... 2.352
330'....... 6.064
1/8........ 9.056
MPH....... 83.12
1000...... 11.615
1/4........ 13.776
MPH....... 106.01
Afterwards blu ran my car again against a Z28 SS and lost. I seem to be missing that timeslip. I tried to lineup against that same car but it didn't work out. I ran (and beat) his buddy in a Ram Air Trans Am.
6:21pm
R/T.......... .525
60' ....... 2.385
330'....... 6.193
1/8........ 9.220
MPH....... 82.36
1000...... 11.803
1/4........ 13.980
MPH....... 104.07
This wasn't a good run but I suspect we ahd a nasty headwind on this one. The wind was blowing pretty hard against us most of the day.
And my final run of the day against blu, (which I won)
6:34pm
R/T.......... .737
60' ....... 2.293
330'....... 6.011
1/8........ 9.013
MPH....... 82.74
1000...... 11.581
1/4........ 13.746
MPH....... 106.22
So that is most of it. I do believe these trap speeds are accurate after looking over the data and based on how much top end my car has right now. I will try to back it up at another track sometime soon and even do more research into my intake manifold project. I know it's making more top end power because the S-AFC II says I peak out at 64-65% MAF instead of the previous best of 62%.
Let the comments begin...

There is at least one or more videos of a 106mph run but I have to get in touch with those people that took them. I will post a video as soon as I get one.
For now Im not prepared to disclose the details of the Intake manifold. Once I come up with a tried and true setup I will duplicate it for profit.

My mod list as it stands
Stock ported airbox and resonator.
Stock catback exhaust.
Hollow OE cat.
Cattman 3.0 Headers
UR UDP
And other than the weight reduction and the 'messaged' manifold that is all I have.

.500 is a perfect light at this track and I did cut a .525 once. So they're not all bad.

Thanks man for the props!!!
I dunno if you've spoken to blu today but we have aquired some data that I know you would be interested in.

Hope to see that vid soon, once again congrats on the sweet times, I bet those katz there got a whole new respect for the Family Sedan.

Hotshot vs Cattman header comparison please !! I been looking all over the net for info on HP #s for these 2 against eachother. I'm ready to buy a set for my 3.0 but no one can provide me with info on the Cattmans vs never tried HS headers on a 3.0L. 13.6 is fast for a NA sedan weighting 3K lbs ! Try that in a Impala SS or a GTP Grand Prix- cars with alot more displacement - Impala has 5.7Ls, and GTP has a supercharger. Both of these take ALOT to run those times. Mad props to the 5th gens

Oh yeah, that is definetly belivable. VERY nice traps Matt!!
I could only imagine what you could pull if you somehow hit a 2.1 60ft...13.4
The fastest N/A time ive ever heard of off a 2k2 6spd came from a local guy here in Phx...
R/T---035
60'----2.119
330---5.799
1/8---8.796
MPH--81.34
1000-11.436
1/4---13.619
MPH--103.25
Your definetly making more power then this 3.5 6spd was, but traction...thats a diff issue
Im not really surprised at all man, keep it up. You know you got some more left in that ride.

I believe I know who he's talking about and he'd had a GAB and header/full exhaust.
He got taken out of the hole by a G35 6spd, but reeled it in around the 1/8th and won by a car or so from what I hear.

Its not fine print what he did some people are just skipping over the details and trying to find ways not to believe it.

His cars top end is unreal but I knew there would be plenty of non believers no matter how much proof was brought to the table.

I'm with blubyu2k2 here. The A/C compressor and accessories place an incredible parasitic drain on the motor even when not in use. Try this, warm up your car, while idling, yank the steering wheel left and right. Watch your rpm's rise. We're not talking about a UDP here which is just lighter and barely underdrives anything. We're talking about removing the entire thing.
I can't comment on the IM project cuz I have no idea what it entails. But if it helps to recoup some of the difference in top end between the max and the Z, then I wouldn't be surprised.

Although what he did on the IM showed approx 3-4% more airflow on his SAFC2. I can't say anything that im not entitled too but Im sure Matt will enlighten everyone a little more once he gets home from work. I am just trying to explain a little so people understand how this was accomplished. We will be going back to the track soon and possibly testing the combo of the IM and no A/C to see what kind of results I get.
