Since its your wifes car I wouldnt do any power upgrades; MUST HAVE a Stillen or Progress rear sway bar, it will eliminate the tremendous body roll in the car.

Dollar for dollar this mod can't be beat.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=293385

Or, if you want it without piping go for the intake without piping for $50.

Regards,
Bryan

definitely rear sway bar...the most noticeable mod you can do for the money ($100-200)

Nice WRX!
What have you done to it?

Are you looking for performance or looks?

Y-pipe, FSTB, RSB, clears are all run-of-the-mill cheap, effective, and popular mods.

Would the changing of the Y pipe for 15+HP cause the car to be noisier?

the car already has some substantial power... i say work on tightening up that "boat-like" suspension (i.e. front strut bar, rear sway bar, shocks, springs)

Yes, but with the stock intake and exhaust, it shouldn't be too noticeable, IMHO; of course, with the stock intake and exhaust, gains in power with the y-pipe are not as noticeable either.
