Need Immediate Help On Brakes!

I have the wheel off and the caliper off right now, and i cant seem to freakin get the 17mm bolts off that hold the torque member.....!!

Anyone know how to take them off?

Are the supposed to be this tight?

Use a 1/2 in drive breaker bar. They'll come off.

Take a hammer and whack the wrench a few times. Those bolts see lots of environment (dirt, water, ice, salt, etc) and can become stuck over time. Try some WD-40 and let it soak in for a while.

Yeah I did my front brake last weekend and to get those bolts off I soaked them with Liquid Wrench and then used a long handle rachet and wacked the end with a rubber mallet.

Try it out.

HORROR STORY: i was changing my brakes & rotors. got 3 of the 4 done & a f'n bolt head snapped in the caliper bracket. i tried drilling & allen keying it out myself but the allen key only rounded out the inside of the bolt. i was checkin to see how much a caliper bracket costs. turns out nissan only sells the entire caliper assembly... for over $250. i ended up taking it to a machine shop. 40bucks later i had the bolt drilled out. 4 hardware stores later i found a replacement bolt. i'm still traumatized!

ouch! damn i was pretty close to that too, I had stripped both screws a fair bit, cuz i was using a $hitty adjustable wrench, and i was afraid to try more. So i decided to invest in a 18" torque wrench, since i needed to torque the lugs nuts at the proper range too.
