if i install a toggle switch on my resistor, will i be doing damage to my car if while i am moving, I hit the switch and disconnect the resistor or will it not matter?

i heard the SES light comes on when u turn it on...or is it off?? haha will it do any damage minor/major in the short/long term? cuz if not then i want to do it too...just dont know how to do it..anyone have a good write up to it?

Its pretty straighforward. Just cut the wire and connect it to a flip switch so u can choose when to
have it on or off, i.e. resistor plugged in or not.

thats my site and i really didnt take any time to write up the proceedure (altho all you do is splice a wire that runs thru a switch you mount). Didnt have electical tape either at my house

 

and I've used the switch while driving. It will only throw an SES if you leave it on for more than like 5 minutes or turn it on then off a couple times in a row. ECU doesnt seem to like when that happens.

As for the writeup, once I actually some time away from school, maybe I'll do a better writeup with better pictures for those who didnt like the brief explaination

 

an extention cord and duct tape, thats to dam funny. but i guess it did the job.
im still wanting to know the reason for doing this? what does it change/fix/improve? i know its something to do with the tranny. does it make shifts quicker?
and what wire is that you taped into?

 

it gives full line pressure to the transmission, and gives quicker shifts and less wear. THere a full explanation on nissan performance mag's website somewhere.

 

does anyone have more info on this?
is it ok to do? or will it wear anything else out?

Is that lamp cord?!!? Please don't tell me you just twisted the wire together. You did solder this or use solderless connectors, right?

It is speaker wire. I did it on my car about 3 weeks ago. It works great for drag racing, but not for everyday driving.

Don't send anyone to that site for drop resistor info, Sarah is wrong and her editor finally admitted it after a lengthy discussion on this forum. Here is her ERROR.

This is pure BS because the transmission controller is NOT programmed to give full line pressure at WOT or we wouldn't be getting faster shifts from the DR mod at WOT. We all know that it gives rough shifts at part throttle and thats why I always recommend a WOT switch for this mod.
