Trim Code for 2k

I'm trying to find out what the Trim on my car is. It was sold to me as an SE, but I feel I was robbed. I believe it's a GXE. (The SE is $1k more book value than the GXE) How do I find out for sure?
I looked at the metal plate under my hood and could see the trim code. Does anyone know what or where I can find out the corresponding trim codes were for the 3 models?
Thanks.

What wheels do you have? Is there a black "smoked" ring around your tail light or is it all red? Did it come with foglights? Whats on the interior? Bose? Leather? Digital Climate control?

Rims - I bought the Max in August. The driver before me put different (POS Aftermarket) rims on it.
Tails - They were NOT SE tails
Foglights - Yes
No Bose
Black Leather Interior
No Dig Climate Control

I'm like 99% sure I have a GXE. I need to be able to say for 100% certainty that's it's not an SE. If I find out what the Trim codes were and look at what they say in the engine bay, they can't dispute that.

If you don't have SE tails, then you probably don't have an SE trim Maxima. Sounds like you got screwed bro.

well if it doesn't have the black tails, then it's not an SE

so it's either a GXE or GLE...

and it sure as hell aint a GLE

verdict..GXE with a couple add-ons..

Does it have chrome door handles? is the muffler tip one whole oval shape tip over the two pipes? If you have the chrome door handles, it's a GXE, if the exhaust tips are like the one described, then it's an SE.

I don't think you have an SE thoguh. If you find out it's not an SE that they said it was, take it back.

I do have chrome door handles and no the muffler was not like that. Too late to take it back now... But NOT to late to go after them for selling me the wrong car. I wish I could just show them the trim code for the GXE and show that it matches mine.

...DUH... If anyone out there has a GXE or SE, can you do me a huge favor? Can you go into the engine bay and check your code? I think it's on a silver metal plaque near the back of the engine bay... It'll say Trim and look to the right of that. It'll have the trim code followed by a color code.
Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be a code in the VIN to say SE or not, though there is tons more info on the door stickers and the under-the-arm-rest sticker.

http://www.courtesyparts.com/specs/vin.html

It certainly sounds like you have a G?E.

A few other things that SE's have:
- White guage faces
- If it's a 2000, the SE should have some cross bracing in front of the radiator running from about the latch point to about the mid level of the lights.

If you have a manual or no sunroof then it is most likely a GXE. There are no manual GLEs.
I think sunroofs were mandatory on GLEs.

Yeah i think the gauges would give it away. The tail lights are also another thing, se have the black trim around the lights. Besides those two things its really hard to tell. Good luck

what are the GXE-S and C and SE-S and C that it shows for the US? letters E and V.

wouldnt the VIN number also tell us this? but then again, all of those things can be swapped, so who knows.

hopefully that answers it for you Rich, cuz if that palte says its a GXE, and you bought it under the impression it was a SE, then it was bought under a false pretense. but of course, they can always resort to "buyer beware" kinda thing. Good luck.

Thanks Aussie983. I looked it up from there. I have a B for the 6th Letter, which means I DO have a GXE! Thanks. Now I have 100% proof I can bring to the dealership w/ me.
