Just take them off yourself and take them to a repair shop to let them remove and reinstall the springs. Then you can put them back on the car.

Buy a spring compressor (approx $20) and do it all yourself, its only about a 2-3 hour job, plus you get the satisfaction of saying, I did it.

Bear in mind, new struts == 4-WHEEL ALIGNMENT REQUIRED, so include that to the cost of install...

They loan you the tool after you leave a deposit equal to the value of the tool. When you return it, you get your deposit back. I did not mention the spring compressor because if used improperly, it will cause serious injury or worse.

You can get it here, this is the one I have. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43998
That is $20 Cdn so it should be cheaper in the US. I have changed springs 4 times now with it and it works great.

2-3 hours if you've done the whole job more than once... for me the whole job took realistically around 10-14 hours. I do work slowly and make sure everything is perfect, but I ran into a number of snags which lengthened the time significantly (the most time consuming of which was fumbling with the Autozone $40 spring compressor)

Nope...
I was working outside in some cold-azz wind, had to tear down a lot of crap in the trunk, and lost a rear strut tower nut inside the brackets around the tower and had to tear down the whole rear seat/backing plate to fish the damn thing out...
Not to mention the front struts I had to go out in my dad's car and buy a breaker bar, so that added a little time to the job...
Then there was my dumb-azz trying to put the left front spring on a right front strut... haha :

In addition there was setup/cleanup time included, moving all my tools out of the basement to the front yard and cleaning up afterwards... (this won't be a problem once I have a garage, starting next week)

But after doing that whole job, I'm pretty sure I could do the whole job alone again in less than 1/2 that time, since I know every snag I can encounter and how to prevent/get around it...

So 2 hours doesn't surprise me for you and Fashizl, since both of you have done the job before, and probably had some nice tools available (nice pneumatic impact wrench, probably a nice spring compressor, right?)
