Help w/ a Lose Ground Wire

Last evening walking toward my 2k1 SE (5 speed, Fed emissions), I noticed something hanging from under my car. Thinking it was some debris I picked up, I got down and it turns out it was a braided grounding wire, about 5-6 inches long. It's attached to a cross brace, pretty much under the drivers seat and close to the catalytic converter's heat shield. I got down to see if I could find where the lose end belongs to but I couldn't see any obvious place where it should go. Anyone knows where it belongs? I'd hate to fry whatever it's supposed to be grounding.

it is the ground wire on your cat. I dunno what it is supposed to ground but it doesnt seem to do anything. but mine was torned for at least a month until I found out. I just put the wire back to where it supposed to be and used the 14mm nut to hold it there.

Thanks. Without putting it on a lift I couldn't see what it was (I never knew the cat had a grounding wire and the parts list diagram doesn't show it).
