Hey guys. The way i fixed my dirt in filler door problem was easy. I put 2 small pieces of duct tape over the holes and wham, no dirt since. I know this will stop water and spilled gasoline from exiting the space, and keep air from drying it in the wet. But i could not stand the fact that nissan did not put an inner fender on that car. Just suggestions for those of you with the same problems :-)

Ha! Duct tape always coming through. Good Job, but be sure to check on it frequently, it could fail some time.

take it to the dealer...it took them 20 minutes including paperwork to install it on mine. its under warranty so there's no cost.

Yup...

Take it to the dealer, you might get some flak, but insist that they install what should have been there in the first place. The ******** at Kings fought me on it a bit but ended up installing it. They now call me internet boy (I am 27) because I came in well informed and told them where I got my info. There is definately a lot to be learned from this board....

MaxSE01 - Check out the thread titled "Manufacturing Flaw - Must Read for 2001 Maxima Owners". I put some detailed information and listed the part numbers you'll want to approach your service department with.

I'm trying to encourage all of the owners affected by this problem to call 1-800-NISSAN1 and let them know you, too, have the problem. If they get enough of these calls, they might finally say "Gee, maybe we missed something" and actually get proactive on this.

Oh, one last thing... when in doubt, duc-it. Is there anything duct tape can't do?
