Aftermarket vs. OEM spring rate

Hey im about to replace my Tein/KYB with OEM susp. due to warranty issues with the dealership. I noticed that there is a cost discrepancy between installing aftermarket and OEM susp. The shop im going through is charging me more, claiming that the OEM springs have a much spring rate, therefore a more difficult time installing it and at a higher price. Can anyone vouch for this?

Sounds like B.S... OEM suspension shouldn't be any harder to install than aftermarkets

installation wise-its all the same shiet......actually FYI coilovers are the easiest because there is no spring to compress-its all in one

it did sound fishy, i looked around and found numerous aftermarket springs with rates higher and lower than that of stock, so their claim doesnt sound right.
damnit RPM, they installed for so cheap the first time...

Did they charge you more to compress the tiens when they put them on? That is such BS! Its the same F***ing thing, just in reverse this time.

Id go with a different shop that doesnt try to d!ck you around. Just get some spring compressors and try it your self. Its really not that hard. Just take your time.

i got a good deal on the tein\kyb install, it was like $75. now they're asking $120 for the same kind of work, only reversed. i'd rather not do this myself, i have no experience whatsoever with dismantling suspension components, nor do i have the proper equipment on hand.

you guys have any alternative shop suggestions?

The Tein's are short enough to be installed without compressing them. Unlike the OEM springs which are huge and need to be compressed quite a bit to be installed. There is more work involved, but not $45 worth. Just call around or post in the regional forum and see if someone could help you out.

OEM Springs are harder to compress, making it difficult to put the assembly together. Nothing a shop wouldn't be able to handle easily. THey are ripping you, stay away.
