Car Wont Start AGAIN!!!

I have a 2001 5spd with 55k miles...one day my car wouldn't start so I got it jump started and dropped it off at the dealership. They said the battery was bad so they replaced it with a new one, so I picked up my car at the dealership and everything was fine. Now, two days later after I picked up from the dealership, the car is not starting AGAIN!!! When I try to start my car I just get this "click click click" noise and thats it. This is damn frustrating and it aint fun always asking random people to help me jump start my car.

I plan to take it back to the dealership tomorrow but what else could it be???? Bad fuse or alternator??? I'm confused! Please help!

Thanks

Your alternator is likely bad. Since the battery is new and a jump gets your car started, it's almost surely the alternator. Also check your battery connections - possibly they're loose and when you connect the jumpers it makes a solid connection.

I had this problem with my 3rd gen (R.I.P.). Take the work of someone who went through 3 batteries, 2 starters and 3 alternators. That is not the problem and I never found out what it was. NIssan could never figure it out. It got more frequent as the miles piled on. At the end mine had 198k on it. It was a '92 and the last month it had it, that happened 6 or 7 times. If you find out, could you let me know.

Check the main ground (follow your negative battery cable all the way to where it starts) make sure that bolt is tight... if it isnt that im going to have to agree with either a. starter or b. alternator its hard to tell b/c alot of things could cause the car not to start.

hope this helps

you also could have a power drain from something...

but since it clicks i would have to go with the starter too. sounds like it's not engaging.

....okay just dropped the car off at the dealership again...they now say the problem is the freakin alternator!!! i told the service **** "why wasn't this determined in the first place when you checked the charging system?? Allz we know is that the old battery could've been fine and it was just the alternator" the service **** replies "we didn't see anything wrong with alternator the first time, now we do"....now these bamas are going charge me $480 to get my alternator replaced!!

i swear when i pick up my car when they're finished with it and if my car doesn't start again things are going get ugly....they better not say next time "oh, it was the starter"

damn *****!!

if you know it's the alternator, you should take it to a local mechanic to save you some money. Go buy the alternator and take it to local mechanic to put it on. Dealership always overcharge you compared to other local mechanics.

Any more problems? This has been happening to my wife's '96 for 2 years now. just go it out of the shop for the 3rd time in 2 months. First, faulty truck latch, then faulty driver's side door latch, now the Body Control Module.

Just got the car back 4/3/04, so lets see if this fixes the problem. If not, I'm gonna jump the car and go back to the dealership and trade it in. "you said it was fixed, right?" See what they say.
