I made an appointment today to take my car to the dealer for the tranny slip.
Now I asked him if he's ever delt with it.
He goes "i have yet to see 1 2k maxima with a problem"

what should i ask for?
what if they can't find the slippage or whatnot?

hrmmm
maybe i will just beat them up until they fix it
advice people!
lets hear it!

that dealer has a really bad attitude.
I just had my solenoids replaced today. When I called the dealer (Round Rock Nissan) last week I spoke with the service manager (Jorg) and told him my wife first noticed the problem and I had it happen once to me on 2-3 upshift where I thought the engine was going to over rev before it finally decided to shift.
He knew about the problem and read the same tsb posted here to me.
I told him I didn't know how bad the problem was right now but I believe in preventive maintenance and with just 3200 miles wanted to get the parts replaced now rather than have the tranny replaced later.
He ordered and replaced the parts without a fuss.

This is the best service I have ever had at a dealership.

He even chastized me for having a dirty car and washed it before returning it - the same day.
I also had them change the oil and order the fuel line cover and some touch up paint.
And he hasn't charged me a bit for any of it. I'll pay for the oil change later this week when they put the fuel cover on.

Angela says the shift speed and smoothness is GREATLY improved. She is really happy with the car now.
And of course that makes me happy!

Let your car park long enough to make the engine cold and transmission cold again. Then start it up and feel that ***** slip If your driving, you can cheat alittle. Give more than 1/2throttle and then it reaches oh about 3,500-4,000rpms let off the gas slightly. This will seriously make the transmission slip in the gear before it shifts and it shifts all mushy and slow. If this works, tell me because I still need the dealer to be convinced

I had my shift solenoids replaced last week. The dealer gave me no trouble about it at all. I told him the problem I was experienced with the slow shifting and mentioned the TSB in passing. He took care of it no questions asked. The shifting has definitely gotten firmer and quicker. I had the 101 model TCM from the start, so the TCM was not replaced. All I can say is try another dealer if your dealer won't do it. Or, keep pestering them.

signed off on the fix today. haven't noticed any computer problems so i am not having the tcm replaced.

The cost of JUST the solenoids was:

$556

YOWZA!

Glad I didn't have to pay for that!

I would try to let them reproduce the problem themselves. If that does not work, whip out the TSB and state you don't want your stuff towed back in there in 6 months with something messed up. Also state you have experienced exactly what is stated in the TSB. Just because they don't see a problem or can't reproduce a problem does not mean there is not a problem.

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt; however, not all things are easily reproduced. I know this because I work in software development.

In my findings, showing of the NHSTA TSB stuff (e.g. the TSB printout), let's them know you know what the hell you're talking about.
