Y-pipe bolt question...

I just got my Cattman Y-pipe from a fellow .org member. I did not get any bolts with it (as was discussed in the deal, so it was expected). I know there are 8 bolt holes, so I need 8 bolts. What I don't know is how many, and what kind of, bolts do I need to buy that are not already on the stock Y-pipe? Thanks.

You shouldn't need any bolts. You'll be using what's currently on the car. You just need the gaskets which you should have gotten.

Yup, three gaskets is correct, 2 for the connection to the precats and one for the connection to the main cat.

unless you strip the crap out of the bolts. if the car has seen winter and has been driven in snow, the salt damages the bolts. may as well buy some so that if you do strip them, you don't have to go to the store...just my 2 cents happy install

Dude the idiots at two different dealerships gave me the completely wrong gaskets!! Matthel just used my stock ones and luckily I don't have an exhaust leak. Make sure the gasket falls inside of the seat on the pipe.

I see..

Bob, these gaskets were already used for this application, so I figure they will work well.

I got my y-pipe from a fellow org member too, with no gaskets - i ordered the gaskets right from Budget, I got a gasket and three metal rings, is this the right stuff, or do I need to go to the dealer and get the right stuff? Thanks

you need one gasket for the cat end and two metal rings for the exhaust manifold side

Can someone whos done this tell me:

How hard is it to do a Y pipe? (Any write ups with pictures around)

Do you loose the precat. in the process?

How does it change performance?

Will you fail emmision testing?
