New Black Angel Eye Projectors Installed--PICS

Well I finally got them in, not realizing that the fitment wasn't a drop in install! Quality is excellent, overall fitment is good. I will post more pics at night and my impressions of the H3 projector. The turn signal bulbs (2) and both high and low beams are direct swap for the 2k and 2k1 halogens... The angel eyes do need to be custom wired, I will be doing that tomorrow!

Here are some pics

Yeah I like the black with the sterling mist, now the headlights match the se tails!

Nothing needed for the install, except the removal of the stock clips see bottom of my web page and to wire in the angel eyes.

BTW check the other thread on this the hids don't directly swap in. Modification is necessary and I believe there is a way to swap out the projector with a HID projector.

Does anyone have any ideas on the easiest way to wire up the angel eyes?

There are 2 wires for each eye, so 8 total... Where should I tap into for power... What gauge wire do I use 12ga ok?
I have a 2 neons that I have tapped into the cigarette lighter, I was thinking of removing them and using that so I have a switch for the angel eyes.

Or should I do tap into the side markers? Any ideas?

so you are saying that the current projector in the light assembly will not work properly with hids? you would need an hid projector to install in that headlamp?

Wow, look fantastic. Bet they really would stand out on a White Max! Very sharp indeed. If my HIDs ever do get lifted, these are the replacements.

at the end of the following page:
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/349266/2

you said. "In order to install the headlights this piece had to be removed"
i have the same exact lights in chrome housing and those pieces will hook up to the headlight assembly of the new headlights...you have to play a bit with them, but they will hook up to it..those pieces seem to stabilize the lights a bit better...but if that works for you and the lights are working good, its all good ...

just looking out for a fellow Maxima..

5 spd--- don't know very much about hids other than that they look sweet! The other thread..http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=296435 has more information in regards to hids in this housing...

taino787--- I tried for like two hours to get them in untill I just said fu*k it and ripped those clips out. I just wanted to get them in. I posted a thread but no help and a member adub_pearlmax even said to remove them. I figured that I can always try again and use them.

I agree if I could have gotten both sides in I would haved used them but I would get one side in then the other side would pop out, no dice!

Update:

I hooked up the angel eyes to a switch inside the car. I actually used the switch for my neons which I have decided to remove. It's tapped to the cigarette lighter, so I can turn the angel eyes on when ever i want.

I think they look decent for two leds (I think it's two). I can't wait till it gets dark to see how they look...dam day light savings time...

Anyways most likely I will post some pictures of them at night tomorrow morning when I get home. I need a beer now!!

I kinda photoshopped the lights onto my 01 black GXE from your cardomain site to see how it would look. I'm still torn between those and the 02 lights all blacked out. I hate chrome on my car and the sidemarker and turn signal are chrome.... I'm tempted to buy them for myself cause my AE pass light has condensation getting in. I'm not the best at Photoshop so bear with me

The black housing looks a million times better than the chrome version. I think it can look good on any color Max if that's the look you're going for.

This looks like a good cheap-er option for 00-01's.

Well it's dark finally!!! I have to say the best part is the angel eyes they look sweet. I know people were worried that they wouldn't look good because of the led but they look great. It lights up all the way around and I am very satisfied.

The low beams are adequit and the high beams are good. I probably will buy some new low beam bulbs tomorrow if I can find some nice ones.

I tried to take pictures but a lot of them came out like crap. I wish I knew how to take better pictures but lights just come out blurry. I will go through what I took and post them on my car domain.

BlackBIRDVQ--- nice photoshop work, 100% better than what I could do! I think they look good with black too. I agree the chrome ones don't look right.

Overall I am very happy with the purchase my old se headlights were all chipped and foggy looking. I am also impressed with the quality of the lights, I even think they are heavier than the stock ones.

Not only do your rings look hot, your low and high beams are kickin' so serious ***. They look amazing. I still don't like the daytime look though and the black is much better than chrome.

2MuchMAX4U,

How is night-time visibility? Looks like the illumination is pretty good, but you're the driver. Tell us how it's like driving at night with these headlights.

Where did you purchase the projectors and how much?

Damn...those lights look gorgeous. I'm going to wait and see, though. Some believe they're cheap, and that has me worried a bit. I'm going to wait and see if people report problems with them. But damn if they don't look gorgeous. I've been looking into getting a new pair of headlamps, but don't want to pay 500 a pop for HIDs.

These could be it.

Thanks everybody!

~limsandy: The lights are very good, not as good as Hids but probably about the same as the H4. One thing I thought was weird is the light pattern if you look at the low beam pic you can see the output is like 4 beams two big ones in front and two on the side and then like two more little beams on the outside of that. I just thought because it was a projector it would be more like one whole big beam.... I dunno but I am more than happy with them!
TEEdotMAX: No custom wiring except for the angel eyes--- The two orange (turn signals) are connected to one harness which connects to our existing 1157? bulb. The two H3s are connected to one harness which plugs directly into our H4 harness. That leaves 4 wires (2 per angel eye) on the a headlight. So it's basicly plug and play.

Arnold K.: I was worried about the lights being cheap or cheap looking and I don't think that they are either. I mentioned earlier that they feel heavier than the stock ones and they are amazingly of great quality! I am very happy with them! I love the angel eyes too!

dba1999us--- No these are...
2k2/3 style Angel Eye Projector Halogen Headlamps

So it was plug and play, but you needed to custom wire the angel eyes up. The headlamps came with the angle eyes.

Yeah the low beam is a little weird although it does cover the areas that you need to see. I don't know how a projector lights are suppose to look but I thought it would be a solid beam of light rather than a few solid beams.

Cool! Fairlady _x can ship to Hawaii. Just got an email on that. Yeah, I don't care about the price to as long as I get them now. I figured it may grow quite popular among 2K & 2K1 owners. Prices may come down later as the demand grows but who knows if the supply will be available. What a great b-day gift from your girl. Yeah you owe her big time! I'll post pics when I get them installed.

Can you tap into the parking light wires with the angel eye wires so that when you turn on your parking lights the angel eyes will come on?

JayMax2000-you can wire them up to the parking lights but I wired them to a seperate switch so I can turn them on when ever I want. This way I can have just the angel eyes on.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for, just hope I'm the test bunny for the thieves!!!

I was thinking of somehow getting tiny sticker that say...
"ATTN: NON-HID LIGHTING SYSTEM"

Also hoping that the thieves won't think they are HID because they are black and my tails aren't clear, and my wheels aren't like the ones on the other cars that they steal the lights from!
