'02 Stereo Removal Question

I need to pull out the stock stereo from my '02. I checked the "How To" thread and didn't find the answer I needed.

Here's my question. How do you remove the large pewter colored plastic plate that surrounds the shift lever, ash tray and the hazard button?

I would think you need to pry it out w/ a plastic screwdriver or something but I'm not positive and don't want to break it.

Can any one give me any tips?

Thanks.

Oh man, that is great!

Dumb question: Is there a trick to getting the "cell phone holder out?" It thought it would be a simple task but mine didn't seem to want to come out. What am I missing here?

Thanks.

Scratch that....duh....

I didn't realize the felt part came out separately. I thought the whole assembly had to come out.

Thanks!

lol@Squid. Getting it out is the hard part, putting it back is a piece of cake. I had problems removing my vents-felt like they were going to break!
