Ticking sound after car is off or in park

After I shut my car off or while its in park I can hear a ticking comming from underneath. Is this the heat shield?? Anyone have any ideas its irrating and makes may car sound low quality.

oil settling into the oilpan...normal...

I can safely say that I've heard that come out of nearly every car I've ever driven or come across. Last I remember someone telling me is that it's when the car cools down, or something like that.

My Max does the same. Funny thing is, I never noticed it until I got my Y & B pipes.

I noticed this on my moms car when I was about 5 years old...... completely normal guy.

yes it happens on most cars...its the sound of hot metal contracting again. Ie such things like the exhaust.

Thats odd my pos intrepid didnt make that sound I guess ill have to turn up the radio volume
