Are you talking about oil in the bottom of the spark plug opening?

Well...I personally havnt taken a VQ's valve cover off yet (havnt had to) but if the car does have a spark plug gromet, it could be leaking oil into the tune the plug sits in.

It does that automatically when you type in all caps... It changes all of the words to lower case, except for the first letter of each word... which is why you don't see people typing in all caps anymore...

Is the oil on the top of the threads or on the lower portion of the spark plug where it is actually in the combustion chamber?

If you have oil on the top part of the threads, you probably just have leaking grommets on the valve cover. Not too big a deal. You want to take care of it, but it's not a 911 emergency.

If there is oil on the spark plug where it is inside the chamber, the it's probably just excessive blow by from the PCV valve. Did you over fill your oil last time? I seriously doubt that you have a blown head gasket or worn rings. Next time you do an oil change, see if there is gas in the oil. If so, your rings are worn. Do a compression test or leakdown test to verify. Also, check you coolant for any sign of oil or "milkshake". If you have either of the two the blown HG but I haven't heard of one person with a maxima that has blown a HG.

Oh yeah, if it is blow by, just buy a catch can from Summit. They sell cheap ones for $30. You'd be amazed at how much oil actually can accumilate over time. Just think that without the catch can, all that oil would be in your intake manifold and leaving dark crusties inside your combustion chamber. Yuck!
