$339 to fix my bose 6disc indash???
Thats what the dealer told me today.
I have a cd jammed in it and because its a 3" data size cd but overall 5 1/4" with clear plastic..."its not under my extended warranty". Therefore its going to cost me $339 to get it taken out. This is BS. The cd got jammed in while I was trying to load it but it didn't take it in so it did that thing where it skips to the next cd to start playing it but when it did it pulled the cd in; so now it won't play any cds and it won't cycle it either. I'm thinking of doing the work myself but the tech/mechanic told me its a pita to get the vents out from above the player. Any suggestions???

Its about $139 and I got mine 2yrs ago and it works fine. The only thing is that the price is just for the changer and wiring. The mounting kit is separate.

I'm assuming you 5th gen have a connection on the back of the unit for a changer. Its about $139 and I got mine 2yrs ago and it works fine. that top vent IS a huge pita to get out, i just tried to take it out a couple of days ago, and i thought i was going to break the freaking thing! the trick is to undo the bottom two screews of the main bracket that hld in the climate and bose, and lift up on it alittle so you can get your finger under the vent. this makes it a little more easy. g/l.

Your assumption would be correct. I'm not too familiar with 5th bose systems
ok, i don't know if the vents are any different in 2k3 from 2k, but i'm running a 2k3 bose deck in my 2k, and the vents install exactly the same. the top vent is simply held by a couple of clips on the back side. the way to remove it is to grip the front, pull up and towards you, HARD. you're going to hear a loud crack, it sounds like something broke, but it didn't. it's tough, but simple. certainly not worth 3 bills.
once you remove the deck, remove all the little black screws around the top of it. you should be able to lift off the top cover of the deck at that point and have enough access to remove the offending cd. i've done this with my 2k3 bose deck. gotta be patient, but it's pretty simple.

This is the same technique I used on my 2k, first time getting the vent out was a little tricky, but do as Chris suggeste and it will pop out. I have noticed that it seems to come out easier after the first time.
