Brake rotor and pad replacement

I'm going to replace all my rotors and pads soon and I know I've read that the Brembo blanks work well, as do Raybestos Quiet Stop pads. While I want to do a quality job, I need to stay fairly economical. I don't want to install some cheapo rotors from the local parts shop that will warp in a year. And I'd like pads that don't create a ton of dust, and are fairly quiet.

Can someone give me a good source for purchasing these? I found the Brembo rotors for $74.58 front and $39.45 rear. I haven't found anyone online selling the Raybestos pads. If there is another brand I should look at, I would appreciate a source for them as well. I seem to remember reading about Axxis Metal Master, but again couldn't find info on them, and the one place I found to order them from was out of stock.

Thanks a lot. I know this has probably been discussed to death, but I went through pages and pages of this forum for an hour last night and found nothing, so I'd really appreciate the help.

Britt

I installed all new rotors and brakes about a month ago. I went with Brembo rotors and stock pads. They seem to be working great so far. You can get the pads for a good price thru DaveB.

man forget all that stuff, from what I've read here the Brembo rotors will warp too..... Get the BlehmCo bracket ($125) (from www.mattblehm.com) and OEM 2k4 Maxima rotors ($200). They are beefier and will not warp (at least not as easily as the OEM rotors)....you use them with the OEM calipers. Oh, and they look much better bc they fill up the wheel.

I amd VERY happy with this cheap, easy, and effective brake mod...

Hey I just did mine Brembo frnt/rears got rotors at www.importrp.com Fronts $40ea/Rears $30 each and I got their oe style rear pads and Bendix IQ on front from partsamerica.com Rear pads were $30 and bendix fronts were in the $40 range. I like them compared to what was on there plus I have used raybestos in the past on other cars and not been overly impressed. Hope this helps. Once everything is apart be sure to use antisieze on rotor hubs and be sure to use torque wrench for the lugs and you shouldn't have warping problems.

I put on Raybestos front and rear rotors and all raybestos semi-metallic this weekend.

Someone told me that the raybestos quiet-stop pads fade quickly if you do a lot of hard braking.

How hard is it to change out the brakes and rotors? And is there a guide somewhere I can purchase that has instructions on it?

One other question

Thanks for the response so far.

Do all 5th gens use the same rotors? Importrp has the Brembo's for 2001 and older, but I think they're the same on the 02 and 03. Just want to double check before I order the ones listed for the 01.

Thanks!

Changing out brakes and rotors isn't hard, except for the ebrake on the 2000s. LOL

I've always bought a Chilton's or Haynes manual for every vehicle I've owned.

I have pictures of the brake work I did this weekend at this link:

http://www.westcoastforums.com/~mali...php?dir=brakes

I accidentally left out removing the brake fluid reservoir cap and compressing the front brake piston with a "C" clamp (do it with the whole assembly together.)

I haven't had a chance to even start a writeup, but there's the pics.

The rears are the same, but the fronts are different. Brembo doesn't make front rotors for the 2k2/2k3's.
