Clutch options for 6spds HELP!
ok guys, this may have come up before, but i couldn't find it...nissan is replacing my tranny at 39k because of the 3rd gear issues(yippy!), but i am not pleased with the stock clutch. the dealership already told me they wouldn't charge me extra if i wanted to do the clutch at the same time(labor) i am looking for everyones imput that has experience with the different options avail for the 2k2-2k3 6spds. i am looking for people that have driven the cars with a different clutch to respond. as a sidebar, what's the story about a sts for the 2k2-2k3's? is anyone working on one? i need it! thanks guys...and girls!

any one know how the jwt clutch compares to centerforce, act, exeddy, CM? is the jwt the most common replacement? how does it feel on engagement...like i said in the original post, my clutch takes the whole pedal travel to grab well. i am wondering if these aftermarket clutches will improve the engagement with more agressive clutch compounds. thanks for the info on the jwt...the part numbers and price are helpful. i appreciate you info.

i may have to be the guinee pig! i dont know how i feel about that. stillen has ACT, exedy is spoken of highly, centerforce has the dfx, and factory is the last option... and then you've got several differnt co with flywheels. damn it...why cant i contribute to the org so i can search!

as i mentioned in my first post, the engagement is sh1tty to me...i don't like a very gradual engagement the whole length of pedal travel. the engagement starts at about 3/4 of an inch all the way out to about a 1/2 inch from being off the clutch completely. i feel like i am constantly slipping the clutch on a normal engagement. i want something with more initial grab and hold. the factory seems to grab, but isn't firm in its engagement until all the way released. i am sure its for the older demographic that ownes the 6spds and is looking for a smooth(mushy) engagement...nissan doesn't want 50yr old women with whiplash complaning about grabby engagement of the clutch
as for centerforce being junk, and not wasting $ on JWT...what do you suggest...what do you have experience with...why don't you like either of the afor mentioned company's products? just trying to have hard info to base my decision on.

And why are you unhappy with your stock clutch?

Centerforce has a history of building garbage. Several people here have first hand experience with Centerforce and we always try to warn others not to buy their crap.
Dealings with JWT as a company is the problem. Why would anyone want to support a company that has absolutly no respect for your car or the people of this forum. Some of those guys are complete ****s when you talk to them.
The 350Z clutch is the same clutch as waht we have on our Maxima. Just search for 350Z clutches and pick one of them.

thank you for clarifying your first comment. i spoke to the tech that was working on my car and asked if it was adjustable and explained the situation and he said it wasn't. you have other info supporting that it is adjustable? send me the link please if you have one.

If pedal adjustment doesn't solve anything you should be able to ajust the system some by bleeding it. I spoke to a DSM guy last night who was telling me ways they modify their master/slave to avoid these issues. But that involves dissasembly and isn't for everyone.

Overall I am pleased with JWT products, I know Jim and Clark personally from my trips ( from Chicago ) to California. I had conversations with Jim on the phone regarding my SE-Rs setup ( 547WHP). If you going to get a clutch for a 3.5 I would just buy a TILTON dual disk setup, its like 17lbs including the flywheel- which is alot lighter than lets say a JWT flywheel and JWT or stock clutch. Plus engagement is like stock and it will hold more power than the stock tranny can handle. I run Fidanza flywheel and ACT clutch on my 5th gen with no problems. I am on my 2nd ACT right now- I abuse my car with all my heart, and I had my 4th gear blow out at 75K miles finally with no warning. I fixed it myself.
