2002 Headunit into a 2000? 6-disc in dash changer available

Wondering if the 2002 headunit with the built-in 6 disc changer in the dash will work in the 2000/01 Max? Probably no one has tried it yet, and I'm going to guess the cost would be too much to purchase the 2002 unit (Unless maybe one can get some money back for the 2000 on EBay or something.) Thoughts?

I am wondering the same thing. Is it possible to put the 2002 indash 6 disc chnager into a 2000 model max? Is it as simple as pop the old one out and put the new one in, or is it a lot more than that? Plus I am thinking of adding the switches from the 2002 model to my 2000 max, the cruise control I know would possilby work now on my max, but the volume control I now wont. But it may if I get a 2002 HU.

most of the connectors have been the same since 96. If the trip ODO stuff is on a separate connector, then there is a good chance it will work. If its on the same connector as the power and line out, then you'll have to hack the connector. Still doable, but a pain I'd think.

I would have to think really hard about the quality and failure rate of the 2k2 units before going thru that much trouble.

If you have Bose, you should be able to do it. No Bose, no way.

Well, with the lack of a search function and the fact that donations are not accepted, what else should I do? I'm ready to donate, someone take my $$$ and let me search

Y2k Max Luv, thanks for the info. So going bose -> bose works. What about steering wheel controls, since I lack the trip computer button?

A 2K2 Bose HU will work in a 2000 w/ Bose. If you have the steering wheel controls, they will work as well. THe only feature that won't work is the speed-controlled volume. But, really, who uses that anyways?

You will have to buy a steering wheel that has them. You may have to check with nissan to see if the 00 and 01 bose head units are the same. If all of that checks out, then hopefully the cruise controls and airbag system will be plug and play.

Scrimbo Obeer, thanks for the info
