Is this a major problem, what do i do?

suddenly after starting my car (2000 maxima 5spd, 75 k miles) it started jerking and shaking at the front. i noticed i had to saty on the clutch and gas a bit more to keep it from stalling and my check engine light came on. after a while it drove ok, then the shaking again, and was sometimes difficult to shift, had to crunch it intogear a bit. kept shaking and check engine light stayed on, also felt like it lost some power. what the hell could this be and what do i do??

i installed a berk intake 2 weekes ago, maybe its my maf, but i doubt it.

how do i check the ecu for the code on the check engine light??

its the maf. it probably not bad.
check to make sure the intake is all connected right. if there are any loose connections then the air flow isnt right and the maf "retards" the car to protect it.
mine did that when i installed my stillen. the midpipe had worked out of the accordian thing at the throttle body. i reconnected it and it worked fine. after a few starts and stops the SES light went off.
