bucking?

bucking?
Can anyone provide me an explanation of what allows/makes the car "buck" when you let off the gas, or get back on the gas after coasting? I know it comes as the cars are used more, but what is the component(s) that wears?
I assume this only applies to the manuals, and not the automatics.

Forgive me if I butcher this, but I'm going off of memory. I tried searching but
failed. There was a good thread on this subject about a year ago.
It basically went like this:
The Maximas were designed to be quick of the line and the 1/4. When you gas
it, some valve(?) opens up to let more air/fuel get in. This is supposed to close
after some event but does not. When you come to a stop (i.e. stop and go traffic)
the valve is still open. Now when you get on the gas just a little you will get
that jerk or bucking.
I noticed the same thing when I first got my Max, now after 2 years I don't notice
it anymore. I've gotten used to barely barely touching the gas if I'm creeping in
traffic.
Maybe someone can think of the thread I'm talking about, I'll trying searching some
more.

Not the same symptoms. I'm speaking of what appears to be sloppy bushings or play in the drive train.
Try it - coast along at say 30mph. Apply some gas, and you'll feel a sensation like it's picking up the slack and then grabbing. Then when you let off, it's not smooth. It's smoother to just push in the clutch.

Ahh. Does this happen to you in all gears, I notice this in mine, but it's more prominent
in 1st. Although I've been able to get *any* MT car to buck in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes
third.

It occurs most in 1st & 2nd, between 20 & 30mph - likely due to the gearing. Like you, I've been able to get any MT car to do it, however this is pretty consistent, without effort. My gf's neon doesn't even do it, unless i try to specifically.
