Adding a aftermarket sunroof

What are my options for putting in a sunroof. Should I go to the dealer, if so how much should I expect to pay? Are there any other good options? I've heard lots of after market sunroofs leak - true?
Lastly, I know its much cheaper to just have the pop-up sunroof but if I go that route is it worth it? or should I just go all the way and go w/ the motorized?
Thanks

Not worth it IMO. It will run you at least $800 for a motorized roof, and it may leak down the road.

I'd like to add a sunroof in my maxima also...but it is costly, and risky....and I don't know anyone who has added a sunroof to a maxima aftermarket. It seems virtually all maxima GLE's have sunroofs except mine, BOO!!

I replaced the sunroof ***'y in my '97 when a gear stripped out. It ran 375 for the whole assembly and was a pretty easy install. Now how much someone would charge to cut the hole in your roof professionally is the good question.

you dont want to have someone just to cut a whole in your roof. You want the hole package, in order for them to back it up with a warranty.

I have considered putting in a sunroof in my GXE-thats the only mod I regret not having, but at a cost of $900 it is 3 monthly payments. I thought that if I put 900 in the car, how much resale value will be affected, then ruled against it. Now that my car is 4 yrs old, it doesn't make sense financially even more.

I dunno but if I ever see a Maxima with a cheezy pop up sunroof on it, I'ma go to the owner and straight up smack him in the head for doing such stupid thing. 5th gen is a classy looking car, putting one of those sunroofs in makes as much sense as putting a pop up in a LS430.

BTW ASC sunroofs are the shizzo they warranty the sunroof for life. I've seen cars who had these put in and they worked great and vs OEM U maintain the headroom your car already has. Sunroof equipped cars have less headroom. They charge 800 bux for a ASC sunroof installed, it has the ability to open with a remote even, has auto open (like auto down on the windows) and auto close, tilt function too. I'm seriously thinking of adding one to my Maxima, since GXE 5th gens don't come with one.

there is a big difference between a pop up sunroof and the one like EOm style moonroof. A pop up sunroof runs up to $500, the moonroof is $800-1100. If you 're quoted $500 for a moonroof you are being BS'ed.
