How to get Service Engine Codes?

Hi everyone,

I cleaned me throttle body today and now my SES light is on. The car idles higher than it did before (600 before and now 900 to 1000) and it surges when down shifting. (while coming to a stop) The search won't work and all I can find is how to reset the ECU but nothing on how to actually get the code from the SES light.

I don't see how I could have done anything wrong, all I did was take off the whole air box (all that black plastic tubing and the part with the filter in it) and the throttle plate is right there. I sprayed throttle body cleaner inside and wiped all around inside and moved the plate so I could clean both sides of it and put everything back together. Now my car is sick.

I have a 2002 I35 and it is stock. If someone could tell me (or point me in the right direction) exactly how to make it give me a code from the SES light and maybe a legend of what the codes mean, it would greatly be appreciated.

Just use the ECU reset procedure. But when the CEL starts blinking after you have waited 7 seconds, held the pedal 10 seconds, and then released start counting. The light will blink a certain number of times and then give you a short pause. It will give you the code in a 4 digit form. I think 10 blinks is actually zero.

e.g. You hold the pedal down for the approximate 10 seconds and the light starts blinking. It blinks 10 times (0), pause, 4 times (4), pause, 5 times (5), pause, and 5 more times (5). Error code (0455).

Sometimes it will give you another code after completing the first code. You'll know this because the lights blink at a different rate for the second code. Just watch for when it repeats itself.

Don't hold me exactly too this procedure, because it's been a little while since I did it on my Max. It should be the same for your Infiniti. Just remember that self-diagnostic is half the procedure of ECU reset.

Thank you,
I did the reset and it gave me a code 5107. The light flashed 10 times slowly and then fast 5 times, fast 10 times, then fast 7 times. So I assume that that means 5107 right? I called autozone and they said that it's a dealer code. I reset it and the light went off for about an hour of driving and then came back on again with the same code above. It still idles 200 to 300 higher than it did before and downshifting is still rougher than before. Does anyone know what 5107 is or am I just going to have to take it to the car fix place? Thanks for any help or advice.

Can someone help me with the exact procedure on doing this? What are the steps I need to take to get the code?

i think the code should be read 0507 instead of 5107 (10 flashes means 0). so u might wanna call autozone again and ask about code 0507. hope this helps.
