I have an illness and it looks like I am not alone

Well after having modded a BMW and 2 Jeeps (one offroad one street Jeep) over a three year period I have decided that I might have a problem. I can't seem to keep vehicles in stock form. I think I am talking to the wrong crowd here because from the looks of things you all have it as bad as me.
Anyway, I just put some H&R lowering springs on and got a new muffler with 4.5 inch stainless tip. I know those aren't much in the way of mods but I also bought and installed a new Alpine deck and will be mating it to a couple of 12" subs and 4 new boston 6.5" speakers with crossovers and tweeters. The trunk will be filled with subs, amps and some other audio stuff soon.

THe real dilema I have is wheels. I curently have stockers on but am looking to change them to either 19s or 20s. We have really good roads here so ride quality should not be an issue. My car is a maxima but it looks exactly like an infinity I35. How much slower will 20s make my car get to 60 mph. If it gets to 60 in about 7 seconds at the momment how much longer would it take if I were to put on some heavy chrome 20s. Anyone ever do a comparison?
thanks
PS this was supposed to be a commuter car and now look what has happened.

7 seconds to 50!?! You should be able to hit 60 in about 6 seconds stock.

sorry I meant 60 not 50. I edited it now. Actually my car on "looks" like an I35. It is a 2003 maxima with 3.0 V6 and a 5 speed transmission. I know it sounds like a weird combo for the year but that is what it is. It is rated at 227 hp. I have not done a true 0-60 run but I was guessing at about 7 seconds. My Jeep does it in 5.85 without nitrous and about 5 flat (possibly less depending on how early I want to spray) with a 100 shot and the maxima is not nearly as quick so I was just guessing.

The cure to your disease is simple. Sit alone one night and arm yourself with a calculator. Once you have that handy, gather up all receipts and what not, and add them up. Once you arrive at the total figure, drink a few beers and sleep off the hangover. And then, first thing in the morning buy some more stuff so that you can stop the pain of realizing how much you've spent.

Repeat.

It's how it goes.

as far as the wheels, 20s look too huge on a maxima (and most cars) 19s is pushing it but 18 is a nice size. It's also a bit forgiving in terms of roads and your tires will be a tad cheaper (it adds up).

Not at all worried about money but my wife doesn't seem to like it when her Jeep makes so much noise and goes too fast.

My car is a 2003 with a VQ 30 engine even the 2004 has that here.

I am thinking of buying an M5 but the model is due out in a while so the old (current M5) will be worth far less in a couple of years. THe reason I bought a maxima in the first place was because I have to drive on a dead straight highway 185 miles everyday. The maxima was big enough but still offered good speed and fuel economy. I am also friends with the service manager and he really helps things out everytime I go in for service. I get same day service and a great discount as well. I will only be commuting until June. I might keep the maxima for 1 more year but I will probably buy a BM X5 or FX 45 or something along those lines. As far as the maxima goes though I have absolutely nothing to complain about. It is a solid car and I am very pleased with it. I manage to put on 6000 miles every month. I just find it funny that I am modding a car that I planned at first to own for a mere 6 months.

Oh and about the Jeep. It is a 1998 grand cherokee with a 5.9 liter engine. Every bolt-on imaginable plus nitrous. Stock it can run 15 flat and some have even run in the 14s. I have a few friends who run cosistent 12s with theirs. Mine has a few bugs to work out but I can still run low to mid 13s. A real sleeper.

HAHA...i think i have that disease too! I had a 2001 prelude, dropped couple thousand dollars into it, got pulled over for speed contest so i ended up selling the car and got a 2002 Tundra. I got a full TRD kit put on, 6" lift, PS2 in rear console, 33" tires then after 5 months, i decided i wanted a sedan. So now im with the maxima, which i swore id keep stock, but after getting rims, i decided its too high so i lowered it, then wanted a new noise so got an intake, and now im not happy with 18's so i jus got 19's. No point in fighting the disease....been there and done that... Wanna see my previous cars? Check my site!

I know how all of you feel. I had a '02 SE and I dropped about 8k into it. It got stolen the same day I installed my "last" mod (brake kit). Never even got to take it to the track with all my mods. So I bought a '04 SE and SWORE I wouldn't do it again due to what happened. All that money and hard work for nothing bla bla bla... Of course one can only hold out for so long when it comes to modding the almighty Max. So started again a few weeks ago. What really sucks though is that there aren't NEARLY the number of products out yet for the '04 as for the '02.

Oh well, we'll never learn.
