So I went to the dealer tonight to get some of my stuff out of my car.
I browsed at the 2k1 5 speeds.
I saw a 2k1 se grey 5 speed
So i though how much it would be to trade in the car.

They said I can drive off the lot that night with the 2k1 5 speed for 6,000 more.
I was like hell now.
That's way too much to spend for a trade in to another max.
Besides I was looking for a 2k1 ae 5 speed. The only one they had was a burgandy one.

So I left.
Well tonight I get a call from the same dealer.
They found a blue 2k1 ae with black leather.

They wanted 7000 more for it...

What to do...
What to do...
That means if i do get the car.
I gotta get all my mods off the car.
The dealer is understanding about the mods.
Good thing I kept all the OEM parts.

If i get them to lower the price of the 2k1 or the 2k1 ae to 4000 or less I will get it.

What should I do people...

Seems to me the 5th gen 5-spds are far more problem-free than the auto, and plus you'll like it better. If you can afford it, I say go for it!

If you can lower it to $4000, go for it. It's a pretty good deal!

Keep the Max because that's a lot of $$$ you have to spend. Just drive your A6.

hey YJ i been going through the same dillema, dealer wanted 7k more for new SE 5-speed in black, i was like hell no. Anyway what i finally decided was at LEAST i would be spending 3500 on tax, destination, registration, etc.. I'd be better off doing a...TRANNY SWAP... yes you may all call me crazy, but there's no reason why it can't be done, and there's no reason why it can't be done for less than trading in my brand new car... so... wish me luck i guess I should have enough money in about a month i'm estimating about 1500 in parts plus another 1k in labor... I REALLY REALLY hate my slushbox.

I say you keep your Max...If you have to pay that much to trade yours in and get another one, think of all the money you have lost. Basically, it sounds like they will be giving you around $19k for your Max as a trade in. Depending on how much you bought it for, you will be eating a lot of depreciation. If say you bought your max for $25k and you trade it now for like $19k, you would have essentially spent $6k just to drive your Max for the year or year and a half you have had it. Plus, you would have to pay another $7k to get another one....and don't forget taxes..... So, my advice is to keep the max and save up your money. Keep the max for a few years and then get another car if you want or maybe just more mods

You know my thoughts on it YJ... 4 grand to get a new (5 SPEED!) max.. you've had yours for over a year now right? Sounds good to me.

my thoughts:

Trade in for a used one with similar mileage.

that $4-6K is your first-year depreciation. If you trade on a used w/ same miles, you won't be paying for it twice.
