Limited Slip Differential Question
Limited Slip Differential Question
Last august I bought a 2001 Max SE. Its not the 20th ann edition. Does the limited slip differential come only on the anniversery edition, or is it an option for the buyer. I was in my college parking lot the other day just screwin around and was doing burn outs. pelling out. Two even tire marks were left. Isn't that what a limited slip does? Also, what is the benifit of limited slip, more control? Thanks.
thats not really a good way to tell if you have lsd. I've seen an 95 auto max do a burn out that left two tires marks in the parking lot.
but yes, only the 20th AE's have the lsd and its not an option given to other maxima owners off the dealer lot.
check www.howstuffworks.com for how LSD works. You can check by jacking up the front of your car, and spinning one tire. If both spin after a couple of rotations, then you have lsd. If you don't, only one tire will keep spinning.

My ID tag on my firewall says that my 2000 GXE has LSD, and its not an AE. Here is how to tell:
(From Housecor)
Look in the engine bay at the firewall. There should be a metal plate with your VIN number stamped on it. Below the VIN number on the plate is another number. It should be something like this:
BLJULTYA33EUA-----
Here's a breakdown of what that code means:
B = Sedan
LJ = Engine (see below)
U = 2WD Axle
L = Left Hand Drive
T = Trim Level (see below)
A = Transmission Type (see below)
A33 = Car Model
E = EGI Intake
N = Emissions Type (see below)
A = Seating Capacity
The options for LJ are:
LH = VQ30DE
LJ = VQ35DE
The options for T are:
B = GXE
E = GXEL
G = GLE
T = SE, SES
V = SES, SEL
The options for Y are:
A = Automatic
F = Manual with LSD
Y = Manual without LSD
The options for N are:
U = Federal Emissions
V = California Emissions
