The rattle occurs on acceleration and is very hard to describe. Basically, it sounds like a very small stone being shaken rapidly in a tin can - coming from the engine compartment. Dealer says they cannot duplicate...

At first, it happened very rarely but now it is occuring much of the time - just never when it's at the dealer.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what it could be?

 

do u here the same rattle on start up? if so might be the cam sprocket tsb

 

The rattle only occurs while driving, not at start up.

 

well i could here the rattle only at start up, takin the car off , and when in park and revvin it up soon u come off the gas u get the rattle. neva heard it while drivin though so that most likely somethin diff.

 

I believe that was very light engine knocking. Try higher octane gas.

 

Same thing happens on my car. I was able to duplicate it for the dealer by putting the car in 5th or 6th gear at low speeds. That seemed to make the noise louder. They will not fix it though for some stupid reason. I am going to check and see if it is the heat shield. If not then I am going to call nissan usa about it.
