strange squeak noise..HELP!!

When i step on the accel lightly there is a squeaking noise that comes. almost like a mouse caught on the glue trap. it also happens when i put the car in reverse. i looked in the engine compartment and it comes from the pass side of the radiator area. It only happens when the accel is first engaged, and in reverse...could it be the engine mounts??

any ideas?????

I'd like to know as well, my 2000 SE does it all the time. Mousy squeaks during acceleration, during idling and while reversing. Also during the initial start of the car (whether is warmed up or cold)..

anyone?

Does it happen when the car is under load (accelerating) or in neutral ? If it happens both in neutral and under load, it could be your drive belts.

yup in neutral, if i gently press on the accel pedal it does it. pretty much it does it every time the pedal is pushed..

how hard are the drive belts to change?

It's not hard at all. Take a look in the "How To" section on how to put on the under drive pulley. Try to tighten the belt first and see if the noise can be eliminated.

Hopefully that will solve your problem. Do not tighten the belts too much because it will shorten the life of your bearings.
