Need help with tune up and tranny questions
Hello all,
It's time to do some work to my wife's 2000 Auto Maxima. It's got a little over 80K on it and we want to make sure we do everything we can to keep it running good. We have had a few funky things go wrong with it, but overall it's been a pretty good car.
What do I need to do in order to do a full tune up? Is this car any different or need anything different then the usual?
Plugs (Stock ones from what I have read) wires, fuel filter, air filter ??? Any thing else?
I know not to long ago... about 70K or so the deal had to change out all 6 coils because the car was pinging at all different power ranges. They blamed bad gas, cheap gas... all the usual, but we put a few tanks of 93 through it, and added octane boost, and fuel injector cleaner and still got pinging, so they eventually changed out all the coils. Would they have done plugs and wires with that, or do I still need to do that part of the tune up?
I plan to flush the radiator and do that once every 1/2 years from now on out.
Tranny questions. I know the autos are known to have some problems. As of yet my wife has complained about a few funky things with the tranny, but for the most part it has not had any problems. She drives the car, but from the sound of it not as hard as most of you. I don't think she has ever put it down to the floor or made if down shift violently. Any way, what are we looking at paying for a full tranny flush, not just a fluid change, but a full flush of the converter, would a Nissan dealer be the best bet? How often should we have this done in the future?
Anything else I missed?
Thanks for all your valued help guys/gals!
John

That's pretty much it. Replace tranny fluid, spark plugs, replace filter, check/replace belt, flush radiator, and oil change while you are at it. You can replace your tranny fluid at home. Give Amsoil or Redline tranny fluid a try.
