Trust me...save up and spend the extra cash on the Illuminas. You'll be happy that you did.

after today I'm at 4f/5r and to me IMO its perfect. The bumpstops are cut (I dunno how much) and the spring does not bottom out like it did before. No ricer bounce at all.....lol

Definitely like some more info on this. I don't mind taking the strut assembly off the car, but I'd really like to avoid compressing the whole mess again by hand.

kirzan, i don't think you can cut bumpstops while the spring is on. the ruber is very thick so cutting it to take it off the strut would be quite difficult.
when this happened to me, i did not even have to use spring compressor to take tein-s off. instead, i put a bit of force with my hand and that did the job. total time it took me was about 5 min per shock.

Okay, so you took the strut and spring off the car and were able to compress it by hand? Doh! Definitely could not do that with the Maxspeeds. If I took the hat bolt off without compression, the spring would go flying across the garage. I was thinking maybe I could do it it with a dremel once I've removed the strut from the car. Maybe not ...

The Illuminas are killer struts... Period!

BTW, I have Eibachs/Illuminas and did not trim the bump stops. I have them set to 5/5 and very rarely is the ride uncomfortable. It gets a little anoying in LA with their $hitty hwys, but its uncomfortable in most cars too.

No more slop, but it wont rattle your teeth out either.
