Lower Tie Bar Setup

Does anyone have this setup ,Lower Tie Bars that MATT93SE has designed and produced? If so what are the advantages and how does it feel while driving? Heres a picture of it and it actually looks like this could be awsome combined with a rear sway bar.

Wondering?

Would this make the Maxima feel way to Rigid? Thats what I am worried about, with this and the front strut bar and rear sway bar, will the car be to tight? If anyone has this , please do tell how it feels , especially at higher speeds around turns!!!!

Anyone?

Anyone have this or know of anyone who has this installed. How does it work and is it worth it?

I have mine order and will give my impression once I have it installed. I would suspect that it will enhance the ridigity of the body, therefore will help w/handling performace, steering and ride.

hct67: I think you meant "stiff" rather than "rigid" right?
A rigid platform will not make the ride "stiff". It's the aftermarket selection of springs and shocks or wheels/tires combination that make it so. A "rigid" body will allow you to better tune your suspension components since it allows the suspension to do it work in controlling the motion of the ride.

You can never be too "rigid" when comes to chassis tunning!

it will make a varying degree of difference also depending on what springs/struts you are running, whether you have an RSB, FTSB....etc...

yes, Its for sale

Yes, Its for sale, MATT93Se designed and produced this and he has a group deal for the Lower Tie Bar price $100 shipped which I believe is incredible for something that can relly help out with the Maxima Roll.
Heres the link to the Deal, Just email Matt and take care of business. I am ordering one tonight myself to go along with my Rear Sway bar, Tein H Springs and Front Strut Bar.

Speaking of engine mounts and ES bushings, didnt someone post about a month ago bout having Energy Suspension design a bushing kit for our 5thgens ? I'm very close to 100K miles and I'm due for all new bushings and JIC Magics. I would like to change out the stock rubbers which have seen better days.

Nice

Did you also have a Rear Sway bar on the Sentra. I am just wondering how this will assist my Max with the Front Strut Bar I already have on, The Rear Sway bar I am waiting on to be delivered and My Tein H Springs. For $100, I feel its a great deal especially to keep the Max Gripping the Roadway while pushing it around turns.

My B13 was prone to more oversteer than understeer. B13 has independent rear suspension, B14 has the beam - aka LOG, suspension like our Maximas. I had Suspension Techniques sway bars, front and rear strut and lower tie braces, coilover suspension- it was a track car. Someone in MI has it now... I dunno who... after I sold it to someone it was cursed with a spell and no one could keep the car from breaking all the time.... 200K miles with me, and after I sell it it developed problems like crazy !

If this is the same as an X-brace made for an M3, I say get it. It made a whole mess of a difference in my friends car and I love taking his car in turns. For a $100 it sounds like a fine mod.

Well, the Group Deal on this expired on the 7th of this month, Maybe if we get enough people interested we can get MATT93SE to do another one for $100 shipped. I will email him and see if he is willing to make a bunch more for the Max's. Would anyone else be interested?

Install on this is bolt on. for the 5 spd guys, it's a 10-20 minute job with air tools.
the auto guys will take a bit longer as the tranny is in the way on the driver's side front mount.. it MIGHT require unbolting the control arm, but I'm not sure yet. I was able to fit one on a 4th gen without unbolting the control arm, but I didn't try to torque the bolts down- I just made sure the bolt holes lined up for fittment purposes.

pics of them installed on my 3rd gen and a 5th gen on my website- as you can see it's bolt-on.

What is the proper torque to tighten those bolts? Is it possible by hand and a rental torque wrench from pep boys or am I going to need a 4 ft. torque wrench?

really freakin tight. I just zap them with my impact wrench until it stops.

FSM torque specs for control arm nut:
3rd gen: 88-118 ft.lb
4th & 5th gen: 87-108 ft.lb.

good ballpark number is 100ft.lb then. which is crank on it pretty hard with a breaker bar.

for the rear bolts:
3rd gen: 87-108 ft.lb
4th gen: 97-117 ft lb.
5th gen: 69-83 ft lb

Also, Be sure on the front bolts to make sure the car is on the ground with the suspension at "normal rest positon" before tightening the nuts. otherwise you risk damaging the control arm bushings.

All of this is shown in the diagrams in your handy FSM.

Matt, My name is Harvey and I hope you don't mind that I posted this in the 5th Gen Forum. I want to get this for my 03 Maxima and figured that alot of others would probably want it too. Kepp up the great work, really appreciate the design effort you have gone through to make the Max a better handling car. Now I just hope that enough people see this thread and want the tie bar. Once again, thanks for the Work!!!!

not a problem man.. more exposure in threads like this means more .org members see them- which means more purchases... which means more food on my table... which means more cool mods when I can think them up!
