I will never never clean my TB Again!!...

Well, after i done from cleanning the TB .The SES light went on so i reset the ECU,then i test drive the car for 1/2mile it look ok to me.

Later on the same day on my way to work i pass ford escort 4 cly ,so he try to race me i said ok here you go i floor it until i pass him,but all of the sudden he went flying passing me like nothing while i was still pushing the gas pedal all the way down.I felt my car like its 2 cly compair to him.i couldn't keep up with him my car wouldn't pic up.

Dose any one know what is happing to my car .Why i lost so much power?

Dose it happen, because i clean the Tb. It was running good B4 i clean the TB.

Or because i reset the ECU.

it cant be because you cleaned the TB. unless you sprayed all the gunk down in there.
that sounds to me like a MAF problem or coil problem.

Check out the above thread...What's up with you guys sharing your sigs???

Either your MAF (for some reason) crapped out. Will your car rev over 4K rpms?? If it does, and it just takes a while to get up to speed, it might be your trans solenoids. When my trans went, the power was there up top, but down low it would start out in like 3rd gear, so it felt incredibly weak, where before it was a train.

Good luck.

Yeah thats what my car doing it rev over 4K rpms.It drop way too low when it reach 4k rpms. Its killing me inside to see my car doing that. And when i floor it from a stop it feel like the over drive its not working the speed will go up very slow until it reach 4k rpms and then it drop to 2k rpms and go up to 3k rpms.

BTW,what is the trans solenoids?

Nevermind about the trans solenoids. You most likely damaged the MAF. Contact Dave B, he carries these parts for hella cheap. Last time I checked with him a 2000-2001 MAF runs under $100 including shipping.

Go to local dealer too and see how much you can get replacement MAF. Once you replace it, reset the ECU, and it should be fine.

Has your check engine light come on?

Is that your car in the sig?

here is one thing to go check right now.
did you hook everything back up after? is everything connected? tube to throttle body, etc. is MAF plugged back in?
when i installed my intake i did not tighten it all the way and it had slipped off the throttle body. it was running like you are describing.
everything from the airbox/intake to the throttle body has to be all sealed up. if not, the MAF gets bad info and "retards" the car to protect it.

hey there custommaximaSE,

sorry to hear about this problem. I just fixed this issue on my car and it was killing me. I posted this in another thread, but what you're describing is very similar behavior to what my max was doing. We replaced the MAF ($83) and honestly, this car has never run better. Its totally possible that you could have put the assembly back together and tb cleaner worked its way into the MAF. Those wires are ultrasensitive!!! I'm affraid to clean my K&N even!! good luck.

{soonerfan } thanks for the tip,i check it every thing was put back together and sealed up,but like said if the problem still exist the SES light should turn on.

I hope you didn't clean it with the engine running..

And you people need to stop racing 4 cyllinder rolling disasters. You are giving off the wrong impression.. like why would you even waste the gas?

i think, it would do the same as spraying the cleaner in the TB. someone here actually took apart the TB and cleaned the inside. they got hit with SES not long after. when you spray the TB with the car running, i think, it will suck the cleaner in the engine...just a guess..

I cleaned....

I cleaned my throttle body with gunk TB cleaner. I took it off the manifold removeing the four screws & cleaned both sides and butterfly plate. And then I followed the directions on the can. When I was done I started the engine and worked the throttle cable with my finger spraying the cleaner directly into the TB for ten seconds while working the butterfly plate at the same time the car stuttered quite a bit but I kept reving it as to not stall . When I was done spraying the car it stalled on me and the SES light came on and I had a hard time starting it but when it started I just kept pushing the pedal and it burned it away. I drove it to my local autozone and had the light checked. It came up with a code cant remember exactly which one P10808 or P1008 something like that but it was the MAF air sensor he reset the code clearing the SES light and I have had no SES light since . I was idleing kind of high around 900 thats what made me clean it in the first place but after driving it around for like a half hour it dropped to around 700 and has run better ever since . Great throttle response & acceleration ever since. I highly recommend cleaning your throttle body if your running poorly or have a highe idle speed.
