removing door panels

I had the factory component and rear speakers replaced by a car stereo installer and a couple of months later the speakers have jarred loose in the door wells. I want to remove the panels and tighten the speakers but I have never done so on my 2003 Max. I don't have a panel tool. Should I even attempt it with screw drivers or putty knives? I don't want to break any of the friction fittings. Is this something a novice can undertake?

If you send me your email, I can email you a set of instructions that I found a while back. I have not done it myself, but you can read the directions and see if it's something you want to attempt.

NO.....there is a hole or slot at the bottom of the door somewhere in the middle of the plastic part. You can pull that with some force and the door (plastic) will come off. I have done this in the rear because i didn't want to mess up the front doors....so i took out the back first. After figuring out how to do this....I installed these (they needed the door to be removed.)

Speakers

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of speakers did you put in the 03 Maxima? Did you keep the Bose Head Unit and Amp? If so how does it sound with the new speakers? As I want to change out my speakers with something better!! Thanks!!!!

I got an SE without the Bose system. I put Polk Audio component and rear 6 1/2" without replacing the head unit. I plan to add subs and an amp shortly. I don't plan to replace the head unit because I like the steering wheel control and I don't want to lose that. Getting those factory speakers out has been night and day.
